Looking at the Thai embassy website I will need a "copy of police clearance or certificate of no criminal conviction" when applying for a Non Imm B visa in Lao.

I have lived in Thailand for almost 4 years as a student. Does this mean I should get the police clearance certificate from the Thai police or will it need to be from my home country?

Thanks

Normally it means both (every country you have resided in), but only from your home country might do it.

I suspect you are applying as a teacher, otherwise it is not required I believe.

Yes, I will be applying as a teacher. Had hoped to go to Lao next week but going to have to delay the trip until I get this document from my country.

Thanks :)

It depends on which country you're from, but a "copy of police clearance or certificate of no criminal conviction" generally means your local criminal history or rap sheet in your hometown/country.

Umm.. So interesting. I nor anyone else I know has ever had to provide a police clearance form to get our Non B in Laos. These are usually required if applying at a embassy in your own country and then you are give a Non B(a) which is valid for 1 years. At the embassy in Laos you will get a non B that is initially valid for 90 days. At the end of the 90 days you will go to your local immigration office and present all the documents they ask for and it will be extended for 9 more months making it one year. I am on my 4th Non B from issued from the embassy in Laos and have never been asked for a police clearance report. Although when I came to Thailand originally I brought both State Police and FBI clearances. I have never been asked for them.

I've just returned in the last week from getting my non-imm b in Laos. I submitted my CRB, so can't comment on whether they would have given me the visa without it. What I can say is that it is on the list of required documents on the embassy's own website.

I know people are now going to say, 'ah but I got mine without,' etc etc. So did I, many years ago. You could be lucky, you could be unlucky. I'd have thought though, it would be better to not take your chances and just give them what they request.

Yes, I did with supporting documents from the school.
