Featured Replies

Hi

Australia now has a working holiday visa for young Thai's to travel to Australia and stay for up to 12 months.

I've got two Thai female friends whom want to travel to Australia to improve their English and work etc. They are not Bar girls, but am still worried about Australia's policy of discrimination against Thai females when applying for a visa.

Does anyone know of people who have applied for this visa? If so, any tips.

Also, one of the above links suggests the application needs to be a university graduate. However, there is no mention of this requirement on the Australian Immigration website:

http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/visiting_whm.htm

Nor the Australian Embassy website:

Thanks in advance

I cant find it either....your best bet is to ring Immi and ask them about it. I have heard it is for Uni Grads only too, The current page on working holidays doesnt cover any FTA deal done with Thailand and seach didnt seem to helpful either. I will check it out again over the next couple of days and see what I can dig up.

There is no policy of discrimination against Thai females applying for visas to Oz. There is a policy of weeding out people from all countries who have not made honest or valid applications. In fact the only place I have heard of Visa refusals is here on TV....I know of at least 5 girls, all from Pattaya who were approved first time.

Thanks for that. It seems for Thais it is a "work and holiday visa" not the same as a "working holiday visa"

As far as I can see, the main difference between a 'working holiday' visa and a 'work and holiday' visa is that the latter is specifically for Thai's and all applicants must have a uni degree and be aged 18-30.

A working holiday visa is the one commonly given to the English, Irish, Japanese etc etc, and it doesn't stipulate a minumum level of education, only that they must be younger than 30.
