What A Bunch Of Garbage...

Featured Replies

Careless neighbour should know better.

I live on a small soi just north of Kad Suan Kaew. There is a one block long north-south soi that runs from Huay Kaew road to my soi. This narrow lane is used by a lot of people walking, motorbiking and driving to and from the neighbourhood to the north. There are several businesses that back onto this soi, and this is where they choose to toss their plastic bags of garbage on a daily basis. The businesses are (no names used here, but you can guess if you want to) a local sandwich shop, a gay friendly guest house/pub and a bank. The guest house/pub is my prime suspect due to the clear plastic bags of used lime quarters that is there every morning. Now, when I say these bags of garbage are tossed there, I mean thrown. There is a concrete wall along the west side of the soi, the bags are tossed against it, some are open, some are probably opened by soi dogs. On a hot day, and most days in CM are hot, it is a disgusting smelly mess to walk past. Today's line up runs around 3 or 4 meters in length, bag after bag of rotting fly infested crap from one of our not so good neighbours. It is picked up quite regularly but it looks like today got missed.

My question is: Is there some municipal authority I can complain to, to send a picture to? The level of disregard shown by whoever is responsible for this mess just ticks me off a bit. Both businesses there have plenty of room for their own garbage holding unit until pick up time. Garbage is not something that should be shared. Anyone have any ideas of who to contact?

Talk about tight indeed; the council charge 20bt a month to clear away your rubbish...every day.

Why dont you shame them by going to the place offering your 20bt and say ok, I am paying for your crap to be cleared every day for the next month....see what they say

Yes, definitely bag it up and return it to the business. Perhaps say something like they may not realize what their employees are doing with the trash. Give the management the benefit of the doubt to help them save face. That's what we did the first time we encountered a similar situation here. We figured the second time, we'd just throw the trash back over the wall and the third time we'd go and toss it into their business in front of customers. It never got beyond Step #1. The problem was solved at Step #1 and we still wai-ed and smiled to each other after that.

Ah, quite diplomacy with steady escalation - tongue.png Might work.

and this is exactly why God put the fairer sex on this earth..tact and diplomacy (and a few other advantageous traits)

Very well worded, DowntownAl, and I appreciate your discretion with this post's details, and can tell exactly who are the possible offending businesses in question.

Well, yes, but bagging it and carrying it to the offending party is not very tactful, even insulting to some people. A special visit to the management to take a look at the situation as the first step should be sufficient.
