Marriage Certificate Translated And Stamped By Mofa

Hello, I am just trying to figure out which shop in BKK to use to do this and what I should expect it to cost. It is for the translation of Kor 2. And I need it stamped by MOFA. I do not want to go there. However, I do not need any rush or express service.

I got off Ploenchit BTS and went into the building with HomePro where there are 2 translation shops. The shop with the morbidly obese Thai lady quoted my 3500 baht but that seemed quite expensive.

MoF stamp only costs a few hundred Baht.

I'm a little confused. You ask about translating a "Khor 2". Have you already married ? The Khor Ror 2 is the marriage register entry.

Others seem to be talking about translating the Affirmation to Marry, so that's why I'm confused. If you have married, and want the Khor Ror 2 translated, then it is only a few hundred THB. You don't need it stamped by the MFA, though.

Why would you need the Registration at the Amphur translated into English?

The Marriage certificate I can believe, but not the registration document.

There is now a MFA consulair department office in Chiang Mai, should be at the passport office in CM.

Certifiying a document costs 400 per page or 800 for express service. translation agencies generally ask 300 to 400 baht per page for a translation.

The khor rhor 2 (entry into the wedding register) simply gives more details than the mariage certificate (khor rhor 3), in addition it confirms you are still married when you applied for the K.R. 2.

I agree with what you say, but I was trying to find out if the OP is aware of this, and whether it is an Affirmation or a KR 2 he wants translated.

I am American but also have Italian citizenship. To get my daughter her Italian passport, I have to get my marriage certificate certified by the Italian Embassy. I initially submitted the Kor3 (the one with flower outline) but was told that it was incorrect and that I must submit the Kor 2 instead. When I got married these were the two documents that they gave me. I never got anything else and I never went to the US/Italy embassy before getting married. I just went to a local government office and got married. I do not speak Italian. According to what they told me, the Kor 2 will need to be legalized by the MoFA.

The Khor Ror 3 is the marriage certificate, as you say. The Khor Ror 2 is the marriage register entry. You can get either, or both, translated for a few hundred THB anywhere. If your Embassy wants the translation(s) "legalised" by the MFA, then that is what you will have to do, but you will have to get it/them translated first. Legalisation at the MFA will be a further 400 THB. Most Embassies accept a certified translation without "legalisation" which, as I say, you can get for a few hundred THB.
