Hi,

Are any employers requesting/forcing them to switch banks. My employer has asked all of the staff to switch to a government bank that they prefer, which I find somewhat odd. My past employers have never made such a request. And yes, I do have a Thai bank account, just not a gov. one...

I am attempting to avoid the "George" wallet. . . .

Kind Regards . . .

P.s Yes, I have already told them that I won't be opening another account, with another bank....... clap2.gif

Schools deposit salaries in one branch of a particular bank. All of my previous employers insisted I open an account at a particular branch. I always assumed that inter-branch/banking wasn't possible. transfers are possible but cost money and require staff time to arrange. I've had around 5 different accounts over the years.

A teacher at a school I worked at a few years ago refused to open an account at the bank the school said. He wasn't paid.

For the school there are advantages to opening an account at a Government bank which include a higher indemnity guarantee. The current government introduced lots of incentives for companies to switch their deposits from private to government banks. I guess the Shinwatra family may be benefiting in some way. Possibly it's also an attempt to undermine the banks associated with the power clique preventing Thaksin from returning home.

Yes, I've had to change banks twice for different employers. It's easier for them & you will get paid more quickly. Also you will not have to go to their office to pick up the paycheck.

I would LOVE to get paid straight into the bank.. My school pays cash which is a pain.

Had the same problem and told my school "to give me the money" (cash) they was happy to do that, no plobrem.biggrin.png

I've had to open 2 different accounts for deposit (neither is a gov't bank). Even though the two schools I have worked for are sister schools with the same administration, each used a different bank.

Thnx for the responses guys.

They came back after a short while and said no problem. Like some of you posted prior, really came down to just making it easier for them.

And I can still close my wallet. . . ;-)
