I've been seeing these tablet computers for about US$100.

They run Android. The display is less than spectacular. Definitely not a replacement for a full computer, but I would consider getting one for being on the go. Primary use would be to read ebooks and pdf files of maps, maybe music player if it has headphone jack.

If it can connect to wifi, then to check email and maybe use a web browser.

Anyone have one of these things? How do you get your data onto it- usb port? Bluetooth?

I bought an Ainol Elf from Pantip two weeks ago, used it for a week before handing it over to my daughter.

It's a very good tablet. It came rooted, so I was able to install CWM recovery and a custom firmware without any problems, and a launcher ( Apex ) to make scrolling smoother.

I 2nd this opinion,I had Ainol Aurora,which is better model then Elf,very good display(IPS),very versatile.The only thing missing - no BlueTooth,no GPS.

To connect - USB,wi-fi,3G,OTG(can connect hard drive),memory card slot.

The best thing to play Angry Birds, which is the main application now in hands of kids.

Where you can find it in BKK?for how much?I bought it in China.

They have new model in pipeline - next month.

Saw these at Pathip yesterday for 4k baht. The girl at the counter didn't speak much English and was reluctant to actually turn one of them on so I didn't push it. From web research I think this is aka ovo7 P

Ainol novo7 Paladin

Anybody have one? Looks like I may give it a go, seeing how the other Ainols are getting favorable comments. And the price ain't bad.

So I bit the bullet and went for it.

Ainol novo7 Paladin

Not bad, a move up from a smartphone, but without the phone part, more like the evolution of my old Palm Pilot. Costs a lot less than a smart phone too.

Of course I'm tempted to see how far I can push it, but it really is just for using as a reader/movie player and for use in transit: checking email, consulting maps, light web use.

Battery lasts four hours of active use, regardless of whether I'm reading or watching a movie. "Sleep' mode does not eat battery. Screen surprisingly good for movies.

My fingers are a little too thick at times, it looked so easy when the Thai girl was showing it to me, with her small, delicate fingers. There is bug when using it while charging, the interface goes goofy. At first I thought it was my clumsiness, quite frustrating.

My first taste of Android. Still lots of indication it's a nascent technology (eg, when setting something up having to specify directories and files, you must type in the full path instead of getting a file selector to choose it). Haven't figured out how to highlight-copy-paste yet. Also have to figure out how to root the dam_n thing.

Just went to queen sirikit center for the computer show. I had read about the Aigo tablets on TV and wanted to check it out.

Once we got there you have to go through IT City booth to get in, thought that was pretty smart of IT City to get all the traffic routed that way. They were pushing the I Pad so looked at that and moved on. Next booth you have to walk through was the Apple booth.

Then to the main section. Oh so loud with all the "Pretties" speaking into their mics turned on as loud as possible.

Found the Aigo booth. They had a tablet the M-80 1 gig RAM 8 gig Rom (expandable) 1ghz processor. From 6,999 marked to 4,999. Then a show special for 500 off. Total cost 4,499.

Bought one for my daughter and the GF. They love them. After playing with it for a little while myself I thought it a bit heavy but not bad. Other than that very happy with it.

Just thought I would let everyone know about it.
