Traditional Thai Costume For Child

Featured Replies

We're going back to UK for a while, and my 10 year old nephew has made a request. He's been doing a project on a 'Pick A Country' class at school all year, chose Thailand because it's easier to get info from me than reading books, and wants me to bring him something to wear for the traditional dress end of year class. Got me a bit stumped - I know I can get hill tribe things at the markets, but think they are all small sizes made for hanging on walls rather than wearing. I could be completely wrong as I've never paid any attention to them. I've got Muay Thai costume as a back up plan, but it isn't great idea. I would be grateful if anyone could make any suggestions of something cheap, cheerful and Thai (or Burmese or just about anything as nobody would notice) and where I can get it in the CM area.

Thanks in advance

Go to the night bazar (especially inside the buildings on either side, not the road so much) and pick something you like.

I'd say a Thai farmers shirt, something like this though they come in many colors and patterns:

Cheap too. And some wrap-around pants. (Fisherman's pants)

Don't know why I didn't think of this, its so obvious. It'll be perfect for him. Thanks very much. I might also invest in a pair of those disgusting looking plastic clogs with dinosaur toes in them. Apparently nobody has seen them in England.

kad luang would be a better and cheaper choice. They would even have silk traditional not just the northern style as above.
