My wife applied for her settlement visa today when she was in the VFS office in Bangkok they gave her 2 forms asking about where she done her English tests and how she was able to understand what she was meant to do. Has anyone else had this done? It seems a bit odd as the form was written in English and the person at the office was most unhelpful when asked what they wanted to know.

Some form of survey?

Does she still have them and if so can you copy them here?

They would not let her take it out to show me, as to what it was really asking from what I can gather there where 2 questions 1 it asked you if you needed to take the English test and the 2nd one asking how did you understand what you had to do. I just find it a bit strange to ask these questions. The form got sent with the application they placed the form in the same place as her English test results. I was annoyed they would not let her take it out for me to read to her and the person behind the counter was most unhelpful to say the least.

Sounds like a survey to me also. There has been fairly widespread criticism of the level of confusion about which test has to be taken and where. I doubt from the sound of it that it will have any effect on the application itself.

If it had any direct bearing I would have expected you to have received a copy.

There used to be a "VAF4A annex" which you were prompted to download and complete when filling in the online application? We had to do this last year for my wife's application.

If that's what it was, it's just a declaration of how your wife meets the english requirement. From what I remember it asked "are you exempt from the English....." or "how do you meet the required...." and then a signature box

I believe the "annex" doesn't exist any more so they probably get applicants to fill it in at VFS now?

You may be right. But the reason the Annex doesn't exist anymore is because the questions are now included in the application form

The way to get the answer to this is to write to UKBA (not VFS) and ask why the form is required.
