Samui Supposedly Gets 1.5 Million Tourists Every Year Can Anyone Back That Information Up

Featured Replies

it would seem that after I happen to be just browsing around on google for koh samui news and after just going through some of some articles online, many articles from many websites keep listing that koh samui gets 1.5 million tourists every year, I have no idea who came up with this number but if there going to put such unrealistic numbers why not just lie and say 2 or 3 million tourists, maybe 5 million. Does anyone out there have any real information or idea on real tourist number. Please do not list TAT, they provide unrealistic and lying figures to promote themselves

The easiest way to get the correct figure from immigration whom are supposemto know every tourist on the island at any given time ( as when they check into stay, unless they are sleeping in the beach ) are to notify immigration of people staying there

It is not that easy.

Bandit Airways says " We carry 900,000 or 1 mill or whatever" tourists a year. But they cannot tell if they areThai tourists, Thai locals, foreign tourists or foreign locals.

They cannot sort out who are tourists on the ferries.

reality - NFI

Probably 1 to 1.5 mil

Boater - the immigration numbers will be low. There are too many places not reporting tourists regularly.
