Hi.

The best place for exercise is in Suang Luang park behind Paradise park plaza on Srinakarin road. This is a real oasis in this part of the city, very large and relaxing with trees for shade - great for a picnic. It's very popular with local Thai's. There's a free outdoor fitness area near the start of the park that get's Thai bodybuilders etc once the sun start's to go down. It's best therefore late afternoon, 5pm onwards and as it's a large open space it gets nice refreshing winds. Daytime it's too hot. Songthaews from onnut go to Paradise for about 7 baht one way in about 15 mins approx. depending where you are on onnut. The park is probably 1/2 mile to 1 mile behind the plaza, the left turn before paradise plaza takes you straight there. I don't think songthaews go there. Probably can get a motorbike taxi or walk. Most people go there by car.

Enjoy.

Agree with this suggestion. It's the number 4 song thaew that goes from On Nut to Paradise Park, and the park is a further 1 km from where you get off the song thaew. However, if going around 5-6 pm expect it to take quite a bit longer than 15 minutes, since traffic on Sri Nakarin gets very bad during rush hours.

Hi, this is pretty much a copy of a post I made a few days ago to someone asking a similar question. The suggestions for Suan Luang are good, but the problem is getting out there. You can bike it, but it's all through Bkk traffic, which is never far from scary. I'm a little further down Sukhumvit than On Nut, but it's pretty much the same, because we're both near BTS. There is reasonably good cycling right in central Bkk, Bikes can be taken on BTS . . . get off at Asoke and either going along the sidewalk towards Queen Sirikit Convention Center or down Soi 10, it's not far to Benjakiti Park, which has a 2km bike track around the lake, so easy to do 10-20 km. There's a bike path from there to Lumphini, tho you'll have to walk the bike up some steep ramps on several bridges there. But all off the streets, hardly any bike or pedestrian traffic at all. Lumphini is a little more crowded, but a pleasant ride. I think it's 2.5km around the park there, but it's only open for bikes from 10 AM to 3 PM. There are also plenty of other places around town. Agree that taking a bike to Suan Luang Rama IX park isn't easy unless you own a pick-up, I certainly wouldn't want to drive a bicycle along Sri Nakarin. But the OP did say "places or parks where i can cycle or run".

The park outside Emporium (Phrom Phong BTS station) has a 750m running track around the lake, so a few times around there and you can clock up some distance. There are also a few different pullup bars if you are into doing pullups.

If you can go reasonably early in the morning, then you can run quite comfortably around the backstreets. I used to live a bit further out (Punnawithi) and I mapped out a few good routes on Google Earth. It's pretty cool jogging through the Thai style neighbourhoods, and if you go early it's not too hot, not too smoggy, and there's not too much traffic to dodge.
