Taxi From Suvarnabhumi To Pattay And Other Advice

Hi guys

Can anyone suggest a good place to book a taxi from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya.

I searched the site but cannot find anything recent on the subject.

I just got made redundant in the UK, my plan is if I cannot get a decent job in the next 2 months to spend 8 weeks holiday in Thailand.

The extended visa application looks straight forward so no problem there.

a quick check on the net and this place comes up

http://www.pattaya4leisure.com/taxipattaya.html

Is it ok or can anyone suggest somewhere better.

I have been to Thailand about 10 times but never for more than 2 weeks so I am looking forward to a long holiday with no pressure to get back to work.

I plan to miss Bangkok and mix my holiday between Pattaya and Lamai, Samui.

I thought I would book a couple of days in the Areca Lodge, Pattaya and while I am there look for somewhere cheaper for about 2 weeks, I have read good things about the Canterbury Tales Guesthouse in Pattaya is it still good.

Any help and advice would be much appreciated.

Regards Tim

PM sent about Taxi service, well recommended.

Thanks beano

I will save the number but I am really after a reliable company, money is not a problem but I prefer not to use those rip off limousine types that hang around the airport.

A nice comfortable minibus for 1500 to 2000bt booked and waiting for me at the airport would be perfect.

You can use the taxi booking service at the airport; from memory around 1,200 baht that wil take you directly to your hotel. No need to pre-book. Strongly recommend not using a minibus service

Shame you rule out limousine's otherwise I would have recommended the Executive Limousine service run by the Penthouse Hotel.

Collection at the airport by private customized limousine

2 Hostess / Introductory escorts, who will meet you at the airport arrivals

2 bottles of ice cold Bar Champagne and cool towels to smooth your journey to Pattaya......

maybe a therapeutic Thai massage on arrival !!! .. or .. before?!?!

I sent you a PM with the email address for Mr T. Many of us here in Pattaya use his service. He is fantastic. Having somebody there waiting for you is nice. No waiting in the queue or having to negotiate the price. Just remember where he meets you. Easy to find, but one of my friends forgot and couldn't find him!

Lot's of threads on this in the Pattaya sub forum.

You might also want to consider one of the big buses that run between the airport and Pattaya. Don't know the price, but have to be cheaper than any taxi or limo.

As someone else stated, avoid the minivans.

Bell's travel. Just a few hundred Baht and they also have a mini bus service to take you to the hotel. The bus service is quick and clean. Depends on what time you are arriving. You can always check their website.

Also, yes, Mr.T. is reliable I have used his services a few times.

Thanks for all the replys.

I found http://www.thelimopattaya.com and Mr. T are also mentioned in the Pattaya forum so looks like the smart people use those two.

If they dont turn up I can always go up to arrivals.

What about Canterbury Tales Guesthouse for my Pattaya hotel, I read good things a while back is it still any good?

Your nuts!! What is wrong with the airport mini van service at a fraction of the price you are talking about? The balance you can spend on the Pattaya tarts (sorry wives)

Bell Bus. takes you straight from the airport to the North Pattaya Bus Station. Then they will drive you via a mini van to your hotel. I consider it the best way to make the trip. 1: Price is up to 350 baht now. That is $10 USD for a 100 kilometer trip. 2: I consider a big bus to be one of the safer means of making the trip. The only downside is you have to go on the internet and book a reservation. You can't in general just walk up and take the bus. But, at least you will be sure of having a seat. And if you miss a bus they will let you take the next one.

On my first trip to Pattaya back in 2004, Thai airways had a mini van service you could book from Don Muang. I did that.

Price is not that important.

I just wanted to know what company everyone else in the know uses rather than one guy with a car and I got the answer which was MR T or thelimopattaya.com

I dont come over to Thailand too often and I dont mind paying money for a good service and its wise to do your research before you arrive.

and I do like a bit of luxury as well. Please dont take offence but I dont do buses even in England. Nothing wrong with them. I hope I havent come over as a snob please forgive me.

Not desiring to take the bus is not being snobby. But after having done several taxi rides from the airport to Pattaya at day and night with drivers named "Satan" that seem determined to test their theories of what happens in the afterlife, I prefer the bus. It really is safer. And, the view out the window is a bit better than in a taxi.

'Satan' doesn't work for either Mr T or thelimopattaya so why don't you try them instead of claiming that the bus is somehow safer than other suggested modes of transport. That isn't being totally honest now is it? You are right that the view from a bus trumps the view from a car.

Back on topic, I last used thelimopattaya over 4 years ago and glad to see that they still have a good and growing reputation.

The OP claims to like a bit of luxury but not ostentatiously so hence my surprise that Canterbury Tales featured. There's some very new, clean hotels on Soi 10 that I have used over the past year. My buddy, a frequent Pattaya visitor also found a gem of a place in Soi LK Metro. The Areca Lodge on Soi Diana is a favourite of another friend of mine but I understand they also have new serviced apartments over behind the Avenue complex. It all depends on where the OP plans to socialise, what hours he will be keeping and the attendant transportation issues. PM me if you need information on those hotels.

Not snobbish at all as far as I am concerned.

Sometimes after a long trip we do like to finish the trip in some comfort. The cars run by Mr. T. that I have used do take care of you and give a smooth ride unlike some of the mad min-bus drivers. That is why I have recommended them before and will do so again

Bells bus ( that you do not want to use ) is a good alternative for many and was well worth a mention, especially at the price. Comfortable, quick and easy with their option of a ride from the bus station to your hotel. It is then in the topic so other people might also see it and then be aware of the facility.

Enjoy your trip and your stay here in LOS.

Yes well aware of these taxis's, I made the mistake a few years ago of using the cheapest taxi I could find to Pattaya. I nearly died four times.

At one time we were overtaking a ancent bus which was in the fast lane and doing 70mph (god knows how) we were on some kind of outside lane hard shoulder while overtaking and suddenly the shoulder ran out with a concrete wall ahead, the driver slammed on the brakes and somehow got use behind the bus.

For a while after that I used a minibus even when travelling alone.

Travelling to Pattaya now I never go cheap.

My wife runs a taxi service. We have a Honda Jazz & she would take you direct Areca Lodge. Canterbury Tales is still functioning but they've built a 'popular' bar next door.

My number is 0831155708.

Always beware of using mini buses going anywhere. They run on LPG and do not have big tanks. They have to stop and refill, and there are normally big queues of LPG vehicles also waiting, after waiting more than an hour going from Bangkok to Nakhon Sawan I never used them again.

I've ALWAYS had good luck taking the escalator down and using the REAL taxi service and not the leeches hanging around illegally on the same deck you first arrive at. Know that you want to spend only 1200 baht and that the tolls are included. I usually tip a few hundred baht depending on how puckered my anus is from frightening driving.

I also used Mr. T many times and always there waiting on time. Reliable and good price. Also never had issues with pick up for return trip. Generally arrived early. Note their "office" is across the street from Areca Lodge down an alley. Highly recommended.

If you clear Immigration 0700-1700 hrs, an A/C bus is 250 ThB to Pattaya. Very comfortable , professional & probably a lot safer than a taxi or limo. Taxis are mostly 1500 ThB. Used them many times. They can take you to a Pattaya Hotel. Ask for a new hotel. Usually they give the best deals. You can arrage a long stay after a few days at a more expensive hotel. The Pattaya Airporter Bus Station is between Pattaya & Jomtien. The hassle would be to get to your hotel. Personally, I prefer to stay in Jomtien. It is quieter, cleaner and smaller. You can always catch a Songteow into Pattaya proper for 20 ThB.
