Thai Non-B Visa Expiring During Period Of Work

Featured Replies

What is the procedure for a Non-B visa expiring with several months left on the project that a WP has been issued for?

1 ) Does one extend that visa somehow other than making an exit/re-entry just before it expires and thus getting the benefit of a 90-day permission to stay on re-entry?

2 ) Is it acceptable to just wait until the Non-B expires and then pop over to the UK and get a new 1-year, multi-entry, Non-B with a supporting letter from the Thai employer?

Thanks,

NL

If the company can provide all the required documents you could get an extension of stay (visa is not extendable) at immigration and are being paid at least 50k baht per month.

If not you could probably get another multiple entry B at KL Malaysia consulate with work permit and the required documents.

It is your choice on whether you do a border run and get another 90 day entry just before the visa expires or get a new visa.

1. You only get a new 90 days if you have avalid non-B multiple entry visa.

You can extend for 1 year if you qualify (your salary is more then 50,000 a month) and the compnay qualifies.

2. Yes, getting a new multiple non-B visa is accepted. What will be required depends on the consulate in question.

OK chaps, thanks for the quick answers. The current Non-B expires 13 July but the project may run into November so getting the 90-days permission to stay just before it expires may not give me enough time. I think I prefer to get a new visa and I will check what exactly they need at KL since that would be a handy 'local' visa run. I do have plans to be in the UK in July and I usually get my Non-B visas through Hull so it is nice to know that if my work and travel plans suddenly change (and they will!), I have UK or KL options.

KL wants to see eight months validity left on WP to issue a new 1 year non-B.

That could be the 'local' visa run deal breaker. Thanks!
