Totster, everyone is entitled to their own opinion and you've had yours.

But I'm just wondering how you become an Honorary Member by suggesting that other members are liars (to be nice) or morons!! post-4641-1156693976.gif

Quite simply I don't indulge others. I find it best to tell the truth in these matters rather than give the person a false view, it's better for the person to get a truthful review. I also expect others to do the same, it is disrespectful to say you like something when you don't even if you are protecting someone's feelings.

But what if we did like it and think you're the moron instead? I thoroughly enjoyed the videos. I didn't watch with a the critical eye of a cinematographer nor as someone with my one personal pstchological baggage looking for a place to unload it. What I saw was an appealing couple on an adventure sharing it with others. I think it's wonderful and helped remind me of both the trials and the attraction this place held for me when I first moved here. I wish them every success on their journey.

That's fine, I suppose it's a matter of personal taste. I'm glad you enjoyed the videos and that the op's efforts haven't been wasted, however I stand by my original comments.

Tell the mods over in the village house thread then.....that thread is protected with an iron fist.

Everyone can get that title for making on average 5 posts a day over 6 years, although it really says nothing about the quality of your posts.

But back OT. These videos give us some of that innocence back about Thailand that most of us had when Thailand was new and exciting and promised us lots of things.

What I'd love to know how you are financing all of this during the best years of your lives (in terms of earning potential). J can actually pass for a Thai from a distance if he doesn't speak, might come in handy one day.

Boring self indulgent rubbish. Some of the cinematography is nice but I can get that on national geographic without the appalling dialogue. You two and your dog don't have a clue!

Momma always said, "If you don't have anything nice to say, then keep your thoughts to yourself."

Well I enjoyed them.

It takes a lot of balls to up-sticks and move here , but I DO wonder what they will be doing to support themselves...teaching I would imagine?

I'll look out for the car....I brought an Escort in 1974, an Icon of it's era

I live here in Chiang Mai and I will keep an eye out for you. Lovely romantic video a joy to watch. Good luck, Chiang Mai is lovely to live in but hard to make a decent living for young folks like you.

by the way, 6 years is quite an achievement. Ive never made it past 4.

Oh yeah! Well my mum always taught me to speak my mind, to be honest and true to myself. So it's okay for so many in this forum to slag off Thais for just about anything but I have a go at a sugar coated bit of ferrang film making and I'm the bad guy? At one point in that film he mentions a place being a bit "touristy". So what after a couple of weeks staying in a nice yard in Chiang Mai they class themselves as locals?

My Goodness, As always, the thread is going rapidly downhill. What started off as the really great thread now has TV members slagging each other off. Back to the videos. I gave what I thought were constructive comments and was also amused by the 'Best videos' title ( a touch pretentious/ provocative??). There is a lot of Thai culture that could be added once they ( as I did) get over the first 'Wow it's amazing' shock of being here.

But please folks, stop snapping at each other, look at the videos.

i like most others on here liked the vid's but it does fk me off when dicks come on a thread & slag it off. if you don't like it don't look at it . its like people who hate tv programmes like big brother, x factor, etc etc which i think are a load of <deleted> but i never post to any of their fans saying how crap i think they are "I JUST DON'T WATCH IT" , its things like this that stop people adding to any forum not only thaivisa. If you dont like what this couple are doing just <deleted> off & dont follow the thread & let the people who enjoy seeing what they & their dog are getting up to in their new life.

personally i like to watch the vids not only because sooner or later i'll be moving over there with my wife & family but also i've never been up north (wifes from trang) so i'd like to see what lifes like up there from a farrangs point of view.

can i ask how much it cost to take your dog over to thailand & how she's coping & what you do intend to do to earn a living as this is my biggest worry for when i eventually take the plunge & move out there.

good luck & keep the vids coming.

Posting and promoting your videos on a forum is going to generate responses, some people may enjoy the videos and some may not. Each and every one of those people are entitled to write their opinions, not just those who enjoy the videos but also those who don't. It must be expected when you promote on a discussion forum, if they don't like it then they should promote in a different way.

After forcing myself to watch all the videos as promised I will concede that I did like some of the editing and effects, however I found myself wanting to fast forward through the videos as they just did not keep my attention. The second video (I think) where they are sat talking to a computer was particularly painful, how anyone can enjoy 5 minutes of that is beyond me.

The video featuring the car felt contrived, and just went on and on and on... luckily I had set my alarm so I would wake up after the video finished.

Now, I'm sorry if this upsets those of you that enjoyed the films (although there is no need for apologies as I see it), but this just is not my cup of tea. I seriously do wonder how many actually enjoyed the videos, rather than just tolerated the wasted time and then posted something nice because someone else did..

"I JUST DON'T WATCH IT"

Could you explain how one can form an opinion without watching "it" ?

Hi J and Sasha and Eden

Weill I enjoyed the vids, I can't understand people who seem to delight in criticizing anything anyone else does. As someone said - nothing nice to say - say nothing. If it's not to your taste nobody asked you to watch it. One wonders if this is their only pleasure in life.

Welcome to Thai Visa, we're not all nice but some of us are honest.

I have a poor connection so I have only seen the first video. It looks like you really have a passion for video and you have put a lot of thought and effort into these. I like to see Thailand through other peoples eyes, so I am looking forward to seeing the other ones. The first one doesn't really give any impression of your thoughts or your experience. It is just full of pretty shots and demonstrates you have nice equipment and much better than average video skills. It did not show any of your struggles of travel or give us any sense of being uprooted and placed in a foreign environment. It just seems like you moved from one cozy place to another, it might as well have been down the street.

That being said, it is the first in the series so some of these things might be addressed in the next segments.

I may sound harsh, but I am just offering my critique which is useless if it isn't real.

I think you are very good at the technical just need a little help with connecting us to you.

I have one criticism: Not enough of the 3rd member of your family, the dog. biggrin.png

Dogs make everything better and we had a laugh at him in the pool. Beautiful fellow and I hope he's holding up, although I have a hunch the two of you are taking good care of him. Just remember that the cars heat up very fast in Thailand so don't leave him alone in the car for more than a few minutes.

And thanks for the work, I liked it.
