Islamist Militants Attack Nigerian Churches, Killing 6

Here is an article commenting on the apparent double standard adopted by the current U.S administration when it comes to condemning ethnic cleansing and violence carried out by say Buddhists in Myanmar against Muslims compared to the relative silence when it comes to the far greater levels of violence and explicit intent to ethnically cleanse carried out by Boko Haram against Nigerian Christians. Quick edit to say it also criticizes the idea that Boko Haram is anything other than religiously motivated

Suppose that there was a country where Muslims were being massacred every month and mosques and imams were being targeted and destroyed. Could anyone imagine the Obama Administration choosing to remain silent in the face of such atrocities?

P.S As a side issue I buy neither the poverty nor lack of education excuses for terrorism. Many Jihaddists from the west had a university education also. Here is a classic example to illustrate my point, the son of a Nigerian Islamic banker trying to blow up an airplane.

Did you actually read the nonsense in the first URL and believe it?

And Of course you have irrefutable evidence to discount it or is it just your personal opinion? ,I for one will be quite happy to read the independent link smile.png , many people did not believe that the Earth was round but thought it was flat did'nt they wink.png

I saw a quote in the Barnabas newsletter a while ago that said that christianity is now the most persecuted religion in the world, the church bombings in Nigeria have been highlighted by the press recently, but as already stated the problem is not confined to Nigeria.

I wonder if christians are persecuted as much as atheists?

Good question Mick ,but in the Islamic world we are all the same ain't we, "Infidels", we are either with them or against them its that simple , I am an atheist too and quite proud of it , and although all of my many friends world wide know this I am still accepted as their friend , my late dear wife of 42 years was a staunch Catholic and yet we had 42 years of married bliss till she sadly passed away in Mar 03 ,I could say the answer is mutual respect which today appears sadly lacking when people are quite prepared to butcher each other for their different religious beliefs , funny old world ain't itwink.png

A few examples for your reading that refute claims on TV regarding Obama Administration condoning Muslim terror in Nigeria. As always you can select content via the WWW that supports anyone's view. However perhaps a more balanced posting of content would be constructive.

Have you actually read the self-contradictory gibberish in the first link. Johnnie Carson (U.S ambassador Nigeria) Claims Boko Haram are 'frustrated' whilst simultaneously admitting they are now stronger than they were, due to links to external terrorist groups!? Remember that nobody in the Obama administration has even sought to designate Boko Haram a terrorist organization despite the estimated 1500 deaths they are responsible for since 2009. As for the waffle about discrediting the government Boko Haram in loose translation means western education is haram (not permitted) and they explicitly threatened to kill any Christians remaining in Northern Nigeria.

Of course it's a religious issue not an economic one, only an idiot would argue otherwise. Indeed a few years ago the miss world contest was held in Nigeria and the Islamists protested, then a journalist suggested Mohammad would probably have quite liked some of the contestants, which led to resulting riots in which 200 were killed. And Mr Carson suggests a bit of economic development and outreach to these loons would make a jot of difference.

Wrong go to the third URL "It would be recalled that the United States Department of Justice had last week asked the State Department to designate Boko Haram, a Nigerian militant group alleged to be responsible for hundreds of deaths, as a "foreign terrorist organization,"

Lisa Monaco, head of the Justice Department's national security division, had sent a letter to the State Department counter-terrorism chief Daniel Benjamin requesting that Boko Haram, also known as the "Nigerian Taliban," be put on the list.

Your article is dated 22 May, as of 7th June still no confirmation and no decision made. Why the footdragging as the body count piles up?

http://www.vanguardngr.com/2012/06/u-s-yet-to-tag-boko-haram-as-terrorist-organisation/

Washington – The U.S. Government says it has not taken a decision on whether to designate the activities of the Islamic sect, Boko Haram, as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation (FTO).

Fielding questions from newsmen during the closing session of the Nigeria – U.S. Bi-National Commission (BNC) meeting in Washington Amb. Johnnie Carson, Assistant Secretary Bureau of African Affairs, said that deliberations on the issue would continue.

P.S That clown Johnnie Carson is at it again reading from the same script as Obama's aide who stated the Muslim Brotherhood were 'mainly secular'. :)

Delays in decision making for designating Boko haram as a FTO. As a discussion point you will be well aware that any such naming will also have diplomatic implications. Diplomatic decisions will take into account commercial/trade matters. As Nigeria supplies 8% of U.S. oil imports--nearly half of Nigeria's daily oil production this just might have some weighting. If we put ourselves in the shoes of the decision makers, based upon media reports, they seem to be seeking a response that will not aggravate the current situation in Nigeria that may lead to even more violence, which in my mind is fair enough, given the history of some ill-considered decisions that has lead to the death of hundreds of thousands.

http://www.thenigeri...-group-wil.html An Interesting link although I stand corrected in would appear there is a certain amount of foot dragging by the OBAMA Administration and dare I say "outside pressure" being brought to bear?smile.png in the meantime thishttp://www.thenigerianvoice.com/nvnews/92230//suspected-boko-haram-members-lay-siege-to-kano-sch.html

That's five churches attacked now, but the BBC ludicrously labels them 'revenge attacks'. I guess that Boko Haram are taking revenge due to their victims going to church. But remember this is not a religiously motivated issue and keep taking the pills. ermm.gif

Perhaps the BBC is referring to the Christians who recently set up road blocks and murdered around 20 Muslims in revenge for attacks on churches ; currently endless cycle of killings
