I want to buy a new Tv i do not have a big budget, up to 15,000

I am looking at the Samsungs. UA-32eh5000, and UA32eh4500, but am open to suggestions

I would like to have at least 2 HDMI inputs, full HD, and good sound. That is basically al I require.

The difference in the TV,s I am looking at seems to be the Smart Tv of the 4500, against the 1920 resolution of the 5000. I only watch Hd on the Tv through my Samsung blueray player and downloads, as I have no HD satellite.

Does anybody have any opinions on this, or even better and suggestions, for instance is it worth me buying an LED TV ( I know and understand the arguments and am aware that both these sets have edge LED back lighting)?, is the Smart TV wortwhile (does my smart blueray player give me any benefits)?

Also both these sets are for sale at 14,000 baht, is there anywhere I can buy them cheaper? I am in the sticks but could use this as a battering tool.

Thanks in advance samsung comparisons1.doc

I do not know ANYBODY that has had anything but problems with Samsung TV's. Samsung refrigertors even made it onto the "DO NOT BUY" list of a major appliance consumers website. Whatever deal you get, I would stringly suggest another brand. For example, did you know that there is no warranty on Samsung remote controls? If you get home with your new TV and the remote doesn't work out of the box, you have to buy a new one. It happened to a friend of mine. He was pisssed as hell, but it still cost him a couple of thousand baht. Hard to believe, but true.

Wow that is a surprise as I have read a lot of AV foruns and they like Samsungs a lot. I am now looking at the samsung 550 it;s LCD but looks wicked. Do you know of any alternative names for me to look at? Apart from Sony

Panasonic offers a 3 year guarantee on their LCD/LED TVs' I go with Panasonic.

I had a 42" LG plasma that died two months after the 1 year guarantee expired, LG claimed it could not be repaired after 2 tries so I now leave their products well alone.

I wouldn't give too much credence to TongueThaied's rant.

He's seems to have had some bad appliances and dealings

with Samsung, so everytime he see's the brand mentioned,

he can't help himself. TT, let it go man!

Having said that, I prefer Panasonic as my choice of TV, but to be honest, I don't think

there's a lot of difference between the "big brands".

Comes down to personal choice I guess.

Regards

Will

AV, that's Adult Video isn't it?

Of course we understand that you only read them for reviews of television sets, not for porn.

AV is short for Audio-Visual.

UA32eh4500 is NOT HD.

UA-32eh5000 is full HD.

I'd recommend raising your budget to allow for a 40" unit. SAMSUNG UA40EH5000R 18,990, wait for it to go on sale (again), should be ~ 17,500 (or less), all retail outlets match sale prices here.

Thanks for the info, The Tvs were a trade off between the full HD and a smart TV as i could not decide which I would prefer. As i understand it at 32 inches i would probably not tell the difference with full HD. The difference would be in contrast etc.unfortunately there is no way I can stretch my budget unless I wait a couple of months, and to be honest i have other things to spend the money on.

Thanks again, I think I'll go for the 32 inch 5000 though.

Cheers

Here's one person that has never had a problem with his Samsung TV who previously would not buy anything over here that wasn't SONY.

I would seriously consider the 40in (even 36) as most people (in my large circle of torrent friends) who buy the 32in become dissatisfied once its sat on the tv stand for a short while. Also once they go HD they start to download/seek out more HD.

Note: I have no idea of your room size (distance from tv), viewing habits or how much time you devote to television.

I doubt you will be able to tell the difference between Full HD and 720

on a 32" screen

I have a series 4 32inch Samsung LED TV and although I have only had it a couple of months, I like i very well. It is in the bedroom and used mostly for movies from a USB memory stick or DVD movies from the CD/DVD player. I'm actually quite impressed with it. I paid 11,960 baht for it at Makro.

Hi Gary,

is that your primary TV?

A friend recently upgraded his 32 for a 55 and moved the 32 to the bedroom which works great for him as he found the 32 too small for the lounge wall/distance to sofa.

I think I sit too close to warrant a big TV I am 7 foot away from it at the most. As I keep referring to, the cost is important to me as I only want to throw a certain amount of cash at the TV, even though i watch around 2 1/2 hours a day. it is mostly the kids watching cartoons and movies. So do you think I should go for less quality and a bigger screen?

Thanks for your input

hmm garbled post - try againI would agree with lomatopo on model or the same model at 32 inch.

Can you get the 10 months interest free option?

If using the screen as a monitor then stay in the 1080 zone for those Ctrl + moments.

If playing movies direct from computer you may detect some difference from 7 foot away but you'd have to be looking for it. Still I would stay with true HD just for future proofing.

I'd go with the Samsung as you get more bang for your buck and never feel that you're making sacrifices on quality.

Actually I don't watch TV. At one time I had the True Vision package and watched American football. After they stopped that service I stopped watching TV. My wife wanted to know why she was paying for True Vision when I never watched it. I told her to go ahead and cancel it. She now has a satellite dish service that has no monthly fee.

I bought the new TV to watch movies in the bedroom. There is no connection to the satellite dish. Our living room is quite small and her TV fits into a cabinet. The 32 inch TV would fit but she seems satisfied with the old flat screen CRT TV. If the truth be known, I think she is too cheap to buy a new one. I'm not going to offer to buy a new one.
