Yesterday evening, a horrific shooting occurred in Pattani Province that claimed the lives of two community leaders. The incident took place around 6.30 pm on a local football field, where a village headman and an administrative clerk were shot dead. Two tragic deaths in Bangkok due to stolen manhole covers have led to the city's authorities holding an emergency meeting. The meeting, called by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), involved different departments including Public Works, Drainage, Traffic, Transportation and the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority. A 54-year-old Laotian man, Inthak Peun, alerted police in Bangkok of his nine-month-old grandson, Martin's, kidnapping yesterday. The abductor, a workmate of Inthak's from Cambodia named Noi Saengwan, had fled with the child to the east province of Rayong.

Expect Increase in COVID-19 Cases as School Term Approaches

The Department of Disease Control (DDC) in Bangkok recently reported an increase in COVID-19 cases following the Songkran holiday. They believe the number of infections could continue to rise as schools start their new term. Between April 28 and May 4, the data showed that 1,792 people were admitted to hospitals with COVID-19, meaning there were about 256 cases each day. During this period, 12 people died from the virus. Since the start of the year, there have been 13,057 infections and 93 deaths.

Tak Province Receives More Cadmium Waste Returns

Man drowns after getting caught in a rip at Kata Noi Beach

A 41-year-old tourist from Uzbekistan tragically drowned in a rip current at Kata Noi Beach in Phuket. This beach is known for its dangerous rip currents, especially during certain wave and wind conditions. The unfortunate incident occurred on Monday, and the man, identified as Sadullo Tashtemirovich Saidov, was pronounced dead at Chalong Hospital that afternoon.
