English Speaking Doctors In Phuket

My girfriend got sever cramps and fainted and went to patong hospital, they put it down to a peptic ulcer and injected her with a painkiller, the painkiller didnt work after 30 mins and she was still in agony and got a stronger painkiller that knocked her out. I asked if they could take blood to check for viruses but they just said it will tell them nothing and they would need an endoscopy but that it didnt warant an emergency. I read online that fainting/low blood pressure is a sign of a bleeding ulcer, the doctors in patpong hospital didnt seem concerned but a couple of months back she also ended up in hospital and they said it was food poisoning but the symptoms were the same although she said the pain felt different. I would like a 2nd opinion in case it gets worse, is there a good english speaking doctor in Phuket we could visit, currently in Karon but can get a taxi, whats the best doctor and if they are closing soon what would the best hospital in Phuket be and what is it likely to cost if she has to be admitted for an endoscopy, rough range €200-400 or significantly higher?

She may want to take some antacid medication such as Omeprazole. H. Pylori (bacterial infection in digestive tract) is also a possibility but an endoscopy would be needed to rule that out.

I've had similar issues for a couple of years, very bad food poisoning symptoms regularly, and the worst headaches you could ever imagine. Doctors can't find any ulcers or anything else. I can't really help because I had my endoscopies and scans while back in the UK.

I can only suggest she watches what she eats and doesn't drink alcohol sad.png and gets and endoscopy asap.

Good luck.

the guy is asking for an english speaking doctor not your backyard fix it , giving out advice without all the facts and appropriate test results is not only stupid but dangerous ... go to Phuket international and get seen to by Dr Toranis .... and dont take advice on how to fix it by keyboard MD's

My advice to get an endoscopy asap, and cut out alcohol and spicy food was common sense more than anything. Basic antacids are over the counter and would do no harm but could possibly help.

Pointing out that it could be H.pylori is just something else to be considered, and pointing out that they won't be able to diagnose that with out an endoscopy and the taking of a tissue sample is a fact.

Nothing in my post could possibly be dangerous, but a chance (all be it a tiny one) that it may help. I doubt it but perhaps she is still drinking coffee, tea, and alcohol without realising they could be major triggers for her condition.

read the title of the thread ...... your advice was not asked for and again you are not in the position to give medical advice, she has not broken her toe ..... she may have a very serious internal problem that a chemist cannot sell an over the counter drug to fix ..... and get a hobby

The least invasive, most reliable and possibily the cheapest test for H. Pylori, which is the main cause of peptic ulcers, is the Carbon Urea Breath Test (CUBT), not an endoscopy.

Omeprazole is not an antacid and a patient should abstain from taking it before a CUBT.

Personally I would recommend Dr Chusak too. In my opinion Phuket Bangkok Hospital is the best hospital in Phuket..

this is an open forum not your own personal forum .... he wants a second opinion because he does not believe what he is being told ...give him what he asked for the name of an english speaking doctor .... maybe she is pregnant ? maybe she has a tumor , maybe she has kidney stones , maybe she has gas .... u get the drift ?

The OP is in Karon. I recommend they make their way to Karon Clinic on Patak Road. Entrance to Access Resort. Open 09.00 - 12.00 every day. Husband and wife team, both specialist internists. I cannot recommend them highly enough, myself and my wife consult with them. Sure not your 400 baht GP, but they are worth every baht.

Open Monday to Saturday 8.00 till 19.00, Sunday 8.00 till 11.00, in Kata on the northern side of the road from PTT station to the beach, after the left turn opposite of the big red chimney at the BBQ restaurant. Not sure if I am allowed to give his phone number... zero seven six three three zero one one five.

Edited for: Ooops, some one else was faster. But anyway... whenever I have problems, I got to see Dr Chusak, and yes - I am living in Patong.

I made the mistake of going to Patong Hospital, a few years back to have some motorbike accident wounds cleaned.

Place was not clean, blood on the floors where they took me, extremely unlike Phuket International or Bangkok Phuket. I was surprised, you'd think Patong would have a pretty decent hospital, but I guess it's a government and not private?

I agree that advice from keyboard warrior / Googleites on a forum is not the way to go but a visit to above two nice hospitals would be the smart route OP.

Best of luck to your girl.
