B2 Visa To Usa, Fiance (Thai Female)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Been looking through a lot of the post here, and would like additional advice. My fiance will be applying for the B2 Tourist Visa to the US in a week, and we just want to see what else we may need to bring.

Our information:

  • In relationship for 2 years, recently engaged 2 months ago
  • Engagement was the American version, private and between just us
  • Will be having a traditional Thai engagement ceremony in September of this year
  • We both work for the same company (a non-profit with offices in various countries)

My Information:

  • I am a nationalized US Citizen
  • Working in India for the past 3 years, and will continue to work in India for another year or two, with current company past 7 years
  • Have documentation of my job, yearly contract with position in India, responsibilities, and salary
  • Have visited Thailand over 20 times over the past 2 years
  • 29 year old

Her Information:

  • Thai national, working in a professional job for the past 4.5 years
  • Owns a property with her name on it
  • No car
  • Previous Travel Information (starting with most recent)
    • 2012, Singapore - 4 days (with me, we got engaged there)
    • 2011, Darwin, Australia - 2 weeks for work, on assignment for the company
    • 2011, Paris, France - 7 days (with me, went to family wedding)
    • 2011, Taiwan - 5 days (vacation with friends)
    • 2010, Hong Kong - 3 days (vacation with me)
    • 2010, Mumbai, India - 6 weeks (that's how we met)
    • 2009, Seoul, Korea - 5 days (vacation with friends)

    [*]University graduate

[*]3 year contract (bond) with current company after completion of company sponsored technical education for the job (2 year program, 6 months in, UK based, online)

We plan to vacation in the US for around 2 weeks, and will be staying at my parents house in California.

Documents she plans to bring:

  • Copy of my US passport (to prove all of my visits, along with Indian employment Visa and renewals, will be a lot of pages...)
  • Copy of my yearly contract (proof of my employment in India)
  • Letter from me stating sponsorship of travel/holiday expenses
  • Copy of her property title/loan
  • Her bank book
  • Pictures of our relationship (on iPad okay?)
  • Her contact with her company stating intent to complete the company sponsored education

Are there additional documents that anyone else can think of? Also, any advice for us?

Thanks!

The thing they are mostly interested in, is that she will be returning to Thailand and not saying in the US,

The fact that she has traveled to other countries and always returned, and that she has a job and owns property in Thailand will go a long way toward helping her qualify for her visa,

I would concentrate my efforts toward documenting all the reasons why she would have to return to Thailand

Your Engagement is a negative because it might be a reason for her to stay in the US, but the fact that you are under ,a long term contract to work outside the US, mitigates that negative.

Personally I don't think she will have a problem getting the Visa

Good Luck

I think it sounds pretty good and will likely get the visa. As you are living and working outside the US there is little evidence that she would not return to Thailand. This is no different the people that live in Thailand and get tourist visas for wives and GF based on not have ties to US and will return to Thailand.

You might want to check the US consulate site for how to apply for the visa. She will apply online, purchase a PIN in order to make an interview appointment. The interview is the only time you need to go the consulate and it is at that point any documentation is given.
