Phoning the consulate in Jomtien I keep getting a fax tone. Wonderful. Can they not have a dedicated fax line and a separate phone line, or is that simply too much to ask?

The wonders of modern technology seem to have passed the UK by yet again.

At least you have a consulate here. Most of us travel to BKK only to find our embassies are open for our business from 2pm to 2.30pm, Tuesdays and Wednesdays only.

Maybe when no-one is there they switch the phone to the fax machine.

I thought I had read about a year ago that the Honorary British Consulate in Jomtien had closed its doors permanently.

But I think Beano is right, when there is nobody in the office the 'phone is switched over to fax.
