Got to do a boarder run next week, first one from pattaya was in nong khai before, will be driving myself and wife. I have looked at google map and cant see road to the two crossings near chantaburi maybe google map is out of date. Which of the two crossings there is the best for 1) ease of driving 2) duty free availability and does anyone know the route from 317 road

I did the Ban Laem one, Had Lek is too far out.

But I went on a Visa Run, never drove myself. The border we went to was in full swing, with all of the amenities (duty free) etc.

(I have to note that this was around 2 years ago (haven't done a border run since), so things could have changed in the mean time, other members may have more current info.

I have never been checked at the border, but there are always military post just before the border, and they stop a lot of cars and they do checks for Duty Free goods.

think we will stick to the legal limits just want some wine really

be careful with wine. If not stored at the proper temp, it can develop a really bad taste (10-16C).

I took a V run 2 weeks ago and it was Ban Parkard. The guy drove like crazy but we got there in about 3.5 hours. They had an agent on the CBodia side just took our passports and gave them back to use 30 minutes later. Another 3 hours back to Pattaya. $ 2500 baht. A guy on the van told me that our driver was actually quite careful ! Queen Vic hotel lobby on Soi 6 Pattaya.

Not been for a year but last time there were 2, one on the the main road, going up the hill it's on your left and another near the casino

The one near the casino wanted 700 baht for 1 litre of Jameson but when I told them it was 550 at the other place they made a phone call and then reduced it to 600

visa run done today 4 hours each way in the truck, but it was monsoon rain most of the time, found the thia border officers very friendly compared to nong khai and was no queuing either

cambodian side i paid 1000 B as i could not get any dollars think they kept the change then i think i was scammed again with the 300 B for not staying in cambodia for a night, never made it to duty free as the wife brought here old passport and could not use her id card so had to wait in the truck which meant i had to get back asap!!

Just wondering.. all in with petrol and fees for the Cambodian visa, what did you pay to drive yourself for your visa run?

700 B Diesel 1300B visa fee = 2000B total

and a safe journey in my own truck

could have done for a bit less had i organised some dollars and not paid the "fine" would have been 650 B (20 Dollar) + 700B (fuel) 1350B
