Fashion In The Sticks

Featured Replies

Most of you know that I live in a 99.9% Muslim area right..... I dress politely, but at night when I go to our bar I sneak on a vest and nice trousers! But in the village and around I am covered. I rarely gets comments about my appearance because I suppose I look like a bag of potatoes but some days I'll wear a particulary cute headscarf and all the ladies comment on how beautiful I am today. (sort of gets you down at times!!!) But the BEST amount of praise I every got, from men and women (loads of them) was when I went into town early one morning unwashed and in and old patoong (sarong) and my husband's Tottenham football shirt!!!!!

"Suae one nee," the applauded in droves. "You look like Thai people today," they said!!!!!!!

Posting for a laugh but any comments welcome!!!

Natural beauty always does wonders :D

Explorer :o

And here I thought I was being very fashionable going to town in a clean pair of shorts and a tshirt! :o

But, lets be honest here Seonai, living on an island casual clothes are the norm and any "dressing up" would look ridiculously out of place. I wear nice clothes when I go to weddings and funerals and that is about it.

Makeup not only clogs the pores but eventually melts off the face. High humidity and heat causes the hair to frizz and the back of the neck to sweat. Hence, we all wear ponytails.

My husband prefers my natural beauty :D to the artificial one of makeup and overdressing. He always looks at the magazines and says, "She could look like anything under all that makeup". Which, when you see alot of these stars without makeup, is pretty much the truth.

I have always been a fashion addict, In Montreal, my friends would say that I could teach a shopping or style class. Fashion 101. :o

When I lived in fashion conscious Beijing, I wore custom made outfits of Shandong silk or Thai silk, I shopped all the time, it was fun to show off my latest find.

When I moved to Nakhon, at first I wore my nice stuff but then I found it: too hot, inconvenient for riding a bicycle around the university and overly dressed.

Now, I wear peasants skirts or pants and the second I get home I wear shorts. I wear jeans to go out. All my nice stuff is packed up. I gave away most of my dressy shoes. I never wear heels. I rarely shop because, well, there isn't much to my taste anyway and few things fit well. My hair, like sbk, is usually in a ponytail.

I have embraced this relaxed lifestyle and I love it. :D

cool girls. Thanks for the posts. Ya my nails never get done, hair's frizzy, blah blah. I do try to look tidy and clean though. I go to Phuket once every 6 months and it's such a shock. Jaw on the ground material !!!!!!

By the way SBK hope the atmosphere is okay over there after the murder on Samui. I have been extremely stressed about it so it must be worse there.

Well I always try to look nice...

most of the time I wear lipstick and Khol in my eyes...(however if one day i don´t feel like to put them on I don´t care)

My clothes are not to fashioned (actually some of my clothes are 8 years old or are my mother´s "left overs" :D ) but I like to wear pretty dresses,

t-shirts, cardigands...

I love to wear matching earrings...nice hair clips...

I am vey coquettish...and I like it...

I like to see myself looking pretty.. you can be pretty inside and look pretty outside...one thing don´t stop the other...

also I think it gives colour to life to seeing someone with neat clothes, or nice hair style, or nice make up... just as recreation for the eyes like a beautiful flower in the park...

I have become quite the fashion/cosmetic conscious one, as of late. I think it's because for most of my life, I was always very casual and without makeup. I tried to look good in a feminine way, but that way has always been dressed down and natural.

Although lately I feel as if I should be more conscientious about all the girly stuff because, well - why not? I feel like I may miss out if I don't enjoy it for awhile. But if given the choice to sleep an extra 15-30 minutes longer rather than apply makeup and so forth, I still opt for sleep :o That looks so much better than makeup.

But I enjoy going to the islands. I even have my island gear, or things that I can't wear in the city. Of course, I only wear them on tourist beaches. I also have beautiful long tunic blouses that I bought in Malaysia to wear in conservative religous areas.

I have always been a fashion addict, In Montreal, my friends would say that I could teach a shopping or style class. Fashion 101. :o

I always thought the women in the warmer months in Montreal were quite chic. But as I spent my nights at Biddles I thought a lot of them overdressed.

In the winter at Mont Tremblatt (sp) they sure spent alot of cash to look good going down a mountain :D

post-19930-1137118291_thumb.jpgHow's this for fashions in the sticks? (Khall on the right! :o )

Great fashion sence Khall! :o

I don't follow fashion at all. If I like something then I simply wear it regardless if it in fashion or not! I mostly wear jeans and cute t-shirts though and customise my clothes also.

I have days were I simply can not be bothered. I do have a habit of stealing my brothers jeans though because I think they are very comfortable for the house and when I can't be bothered to make an effort and they look better on me with my brightly coloured female boxers showing! Classic tomboy style! :D

At the moment I'm still growing my hair it has taken a good few months but I need to do something with it now because it is killing me.
