She is 16 years old! I'm sorry but your are seriously not being right by not escorting her the intire way. (shakes head) Had to be said.

Well said. I cannot believe you would let your daughter cross border unaccompanied for the sake of a visa fee for yourself! Unless of course you are extremely poor or otherwise in dire straits.

Have either of you actually been on one of these organised border runs? At most places you just stamp out of Thailand, and unless you want to go buy some duty free goods, you can stay in "no mans land" while the company you came with take your passport to be stamped in and out of Cambodia before they return it to you. You then go through Thai immigration again and is back in Thailand with your new permission to stay. Unless you are unlucky and arrive at the same time as a (another) big bus with border runners, the whole process shouldn't take much more than half an hour. And unless you want to you don't have to be more than 10 meters away from the people staying in Thailand and can be within eyesight the whole time.

Yes I have and under no circumstance would I allow one of my young children for one second to be in a situation like this unaccompanied. Call me crazy but it would seem a no brainer to go with ones child across the border and back. Peace of mind and all that. Even as you describe it, not all border crossings are as you describe and even if they were I would never do it. Your probably right about the process but I could not disagree more from a parental, albeit emotional stance.
