It is part of the Thai way, get used to it, Thai parents want to see a white skinned teacher teaching their kids, it does not matter if they are from Eastern Europe and hardly speak English in some cases, as long as they are white.

Sure ... if the English Speaker is from U.S.A, U.K, NZ, CAN, AUS and or South Africa and white skinned and located in southern Thailand then ... yes, no problems.

This is Thailand TiT ... crazy as it might be to you ... TiT.

Just got to thailand im guessing, there are no discrimination laws here, even if there were they wouldnt mean anything. But dont feel bad some schools also only hire according to which nationality they prefer. Lots of people from all ethnic groups working here as teachers.

Actually there are based on the Constitution. Section 30. But as you implied, having one and enforcing it does not always happen here.

The Constitution of Thailand prohibits discrimination based upon place of birth,

nationality, language, gender, age, physical or health condition, economic or social

status, religious belief, education or training, or political ideology. In addition,

the Labor Protection Act prohibits discrimination based upon gender in the matter

of employment, unless equal treatment is not possible due to the nature of the

particular work.

Not entirely true, my nephew goes to a school where in "native" English teacher is filippino.

Not that bad. The only problem I've got is when they talk about the director, who's a man. Then the speech... She say............laugh.png

This made me think that possibly two-tier pricing would be in violation of the Thai constitution. However, does the constitution only cover the rights of Thai nationals and not foreign residents? If it covers residents, I think there's fuel here to start a wee protest against dual pricing.
