BANGKOK: -- Defence Minister Gen Sukumpol Suvannathat on Friday asserted that Cambodia would just re-deploy not withdraw its troops near Preah Vihear Temple on July 18.

Transvestite run over by bus after pushed by homeless man

BANGKOK: -- A bus Friday ran over and killed a transvestite, who was shove into a Bangkok street by a homeless man during a small fight over a bag of snacks in the victim's hands.

"I saw them fighting over the bag," the bus's fare collector Napassorn Cherdpetcharat said.

The victim was identified as Surachet Seetalajit, a 35-year-old catering worker at the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations office here. The accident took place right in fron of her office in Phra Nakhon district.

Police said the homeless thief, Pradit Pilasan, was hunted down by passersby and beaten up.

PM: New Police Chief will be revealed next week

BANGKOK, 13 July 2012 (NNT)-Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has indicated that the name of a new police chief will be made public next week after the meeting of a national police board.

Ms. Yingluck said she will call a meeting of the Royal Thai Police Policy Committee next Monday to make a decision on the appointment of a new police chief, replacing Police General Prewpan Damapong, who will retire at the end of September.

The Prime Minister said she already has set criteria in mind and will discuss them with the committee. She, however, denied to comment on media reports that Police General Adul Sangsingkaew would be the next police chief, saying the issue will become clearer next week.

PHUKET: -- A tour bus full of school directors from Narathiwat province overturned in Phang Nga late this morning, causing numerous injuries, but fortunately no deaths.
