Smelly Thai Food

Featured Replies

The wonderful aroma coming from our kitchen this early morning was sardine soup with fish paste and ants eggs.

The smell still has me choked thinking about it 24 hrs later.sick.gif

Sounds like the same substance, lol. Rotted fish etc left for months to fester and take on a life of it's own then served on the side with som tam and sticky rice. One thai woman who's husband has no sense of smell makes the stuff and cures and stores, then sells it to all her friends.

That and shrimp paste really stinks!

I have spent the last 2 years surrounded by Thai girls (my wife, her friends and staff), who are constantly preparing or eating smelly Thai food.

If I could bring myself to eat this stuff I would be clinically obese by now. Luckily, I personally find it disgusting (smell, taste and texture).

I now only eat Westernised Thai food (no smelly stuff, no skin, no bones, no organs, no insects, no old fish, no fish sauce, and not too spicy).

You are missing out mate.

Hey Aneliane...why the rat avatar? I had you more like a ferret.......much more friendlier and mischievous.....I know....off topic.

But with the smelly food.........my wife even admits that it smells and still woofs it down.

With food I try everything.......and after being here for some time, I know my limits.......and so does my wife, so beforehand she can tell me if I'll like something new or not...........my personal taste tester.

its my late pet called Lady crunching on a Kit Kat, she died 4 years ago and I still missed her sad.png , she was really extraordinary.

she probably croaked because you fed he chocolate
