That's a good deal, but as there are so may option's to download unlocked TSM 12.1 and can be used on any Garmin unit not restricted to serial number of the unit.

Quite possibly one of the most unhelpful sites I have ever had the misfortune to visit.

Hit the 'English' option and it only lasts for that page. Once I take the next step it reverts to Thai. If I tick the English option again it goes back to page one again.

Try the Google Chrome browser. The site works fine for me.

I'm having a horror story with the map. Once I have transferred the new 12.1 version to my Nuvi, when I start it up it is says 'Can't unlock maps'

Apparently there is a 25 digit lock code file that I didn't appear to get with the new map.

Just found that out late tonight. I'll try again tomorrow, but the helpline in Bangkok ain't too helpful so far!

If I reinstall the original 2009 map it works a treat!!!!

  • 4 weeks later...

Eventually gave up trying to download the map. Even went to a computer shop where an expat expert had no success either.

I have to backtrack and say that the helpcentre in Bangkok did eventually come good and one guy there was particularly helpful.

Garmin UK told me that they send you a separate code to activate the update, whereas the folks here send it inside the map file.

Anyway, didn't work for me, but I had a trip to Bangkok planned so I took it to Garmin's office and they updated it for me.

Funny? thing is, their location coordinates on their website are wrong (Coordinates: N13 43.380 E100 31.808).

North is okay(ish), but East 100 degrees, 31 minutes, and 808 seconds?

I tried to explain to them that seconds run out at 59, then it becomes another minute.

The 380 seconds on the North is technically wrong as well as it should be 38.

This made absolutely no sense to them at all.

Luckily it's not far from the Singapore Embassy so we found it okay.

The map isn't bang up to date as we travel to Isaan regularly and the road that bypasses Saraburi doesn't show up.

That road has been there at least a year.

You got that wrong, I'm afraid. It is 100 degrees and 31.808 minutes, ie the minutes are in the decimal format, which is one of several valid formats for giving GPS coordinates. Put N13 43.380 E100 31.808 in the search field on maps.google.com and this is what you get, a green arrow marking a position 11 metres distant from Google's own marker for the Sathorn Thani Complex.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
