Married 12 Months

Featured Replies

Hi guys

Im looking for the up to date information on the marriage visa 12 months. Anyone done this lately?

Mine is nearly due and I'm trying to sort all the paperwork out - is it 3 copies of everything and is there a list somewhere which is current to work from.

The originals of your documents plus 2 copies are required. What I always do is go to my local immigration office a couple of weeks prior to the annual extension date and ask for their list of required documents. Different immigration offices have differing requirements.

Moved to visa forum fr a better response.

There are many lists available on here, do a search.

By the way it is an EXTENSION and not a VISA.

Using the correct terminology helps others understand what you need.

Oh and congratulations on being married for 12 months as per the title.

1. Two application forms T.M. 7 with two photographs size 4x6 cm. and Visa Fee 1900.-Baht

2. Copy Marriage Certificate

3. Copy Kor Ror 2 from amphur office (not older than six months)

4. Child's birth certificate (if any)

5. Copy wife’s house registration

6. Copy wife’s identity card

7. Copy passport, non-Im visa, arrival card.

8. Interview the husband and wife for confirming status of husband and wife

9. Map to residency (names of roads and house marked in Thai)

10. Picture of house and family, in house and outside showing house number.

With money in bank option.

1. Letter from bank same day or day before stating bank records, make a transaction just before to get it up to date.

2. Bank account must be in Husbands name, joint accounts will not qualify.

With Income in Thailand option

1. A copy of work permit

2. Personal Corporation income Tax (PND.1) in latest 3 months and personal income tax for previous year with receipt

With Income from abroad.

1. Embassy letter stating your income.

All of the above in two copies, if not in BKK

Bank books are needed for all ways, does not matter if income from abroad or in Thailand.

been here and done 3 extensions of spousal visa and never asked for a bank book...ever.

however, last year i was asked for proof of the income that i swore to on my consular (US) statement. Copies of my monthly statement from CalPers (my retirement fund) sufficed.

AT that time i was also told that next year (now 2012) i would not need the consular statement, just the copies of the monthly statements from CalPers (i provided 3 months worth, from various times of the year)... but who knows... mileages DOES vary

Thanks a bunch guys

That really is the stupid thing! that each immigration office ask for different documents! when the rules are clear and should be set but hey lets change them to suit what we want them to be. Only in Thailand

It is a very sad truth about Thailand. I got everything I needed from Bangkok. Then went to my allotted Immigration office and they quite openly said that they were not Bangkok and they had different rules. Heaven forbid that what shoddy law they already have here is controlled in the same way................oh........wait a minute it is..............bugger!

Dont know of any UK banks that issue passbooks these days.

Mine is due next week and my immigration office seem to require 2900 bht fee of coarse only get a receipt for 1900 bht

Thinking off going there with just 2000 bht in my wallet this year and when I get the money out make sure the immigration officer can clearly see that is all the money I have in my wallet should be interesting.

Depends if the guy or lady is having a good day or not. NOBODY is in control of the underlings and nobody cares. sad.png

Here on Samui they demand 5000 baht.

I always put 1900 in an envelope marked FEE.

Works fine, no questions asked.

I know that, I was referring to having money here to use, so you have to show Thai bank books.

Bank books NOT needed at the Chiang Mai Immigration Office with embassy/consulate income verification.

Bank books required for marriage extension at Nonthaburi even with Embassy letter, these documents are then sent to Bangkok.

As seen again different immigation offices different requirements.

Nonthaburi Immigration is one of the toughest ones. Always changing documents needed. I'm SO glad i don't have to go to that one anymore.

Do you have to show money in the bank, if so what is the requirement?

Also I don't have an income at present. Only cash in my Thai bank account aswell as at home.

It just makes more sense for me to get the marriage visa, instead of extending at Cambodia!

For an extension based on marriage you will have to show 400,000 in a bank account in your name in Thailand OR an income of 40,000 baht a month (can be from your country).

But even if you go for the income option, immigration might want to see a bank book with some money in it to check you have money to spend in Thailand. This doesn't have to be a large amount, 10,000 or 20,000 should be more then enough.

What are you asking? Money for what? You do not extend in Cambodia and there really is no marriage visa.

You can obtain a multi entry non immigrant O visa if married in Savannakhet without financials (valid for one year of up to 90 day stays). You can extend at Immigration inside Thailand as outlined above from a non immigrant O visa entry.
