PATTAYA:--The previous year’s champion, Kenyan runner Mr. Lawrence Kiptoo Saina, again outraced the pack to finish first in this year’s Pattaya Marathon 2012. But Mr. Lawrence could not break the previous record time.

PATTAYA — July 15, 2012 [PDN]; The 21st annual Pattaya Marathon started with a bang in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach department store, Beach Road, Nongprue, Banglamoong, Chonburi. General Lertrat Rattanavanij, honorary vice president of the Athletic Association of Thailand under Mr. Sonthaya Khunpluem, minister of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, and other honored guests participated early this morning in firing the starting signal of the Pattaya Marathon King’s Cup 2012.

Many Thai runners and foreigners from sport associations all over Thailand participated in the event, including wheelchair marathoners in the crowded field. Racers competed in 5 categories: male-female marathon (42.195 km), male-female half marathon (21.100 km), male –female quarter marathon (10.55 km), male-female wheelchair marathon (42.195 km), and student marathon (3.500 km).
