I am currently in Thailand on a single entry non-B visa which will expire very soon. My work permit is not yet ready for a number of resons so I need to leave and get a new non-B. Which place is the fastest and easiest to get a new non-B visa keeping in mind the following:

- I still have the "sponsor" letter from the Ministry of Labour that was issued to apply for the first/original work permit. Can I re-use it? The letter is dated early March 2012 (note I have a new passport so they will probably not see the 1st non-B visa) and says I will be issued a WP for 1 year until end February 2013

- I have the company registration, appointment letter and Power of Attorney from my employer

- I do not have (at this stage and not sure I will have before my current non-B expires) a WP3 form or confirmation from Labour that my work permit is in process

- Do I need any other documents?

I was thinking to Phnom Penh or Vientiane

The first point should read:

I expect notation of visa will be placed in new passport on exit so would not count on them not knowing. I suspect no Consulate in the area will issue without a WP3.

I presume you are referring to the 'Approval Letter' than can be supplied by your local Labour Dept; if it's dated March 2012 then it will almost certainly be of no use and you will still need all the other supporting Company Paperwork.

Some times WP applications can take ages if the paperwork is not perfect and no 'under the counter' is offered/used.

Your best bet is to get a new WP3 Receipt by refiling the application yourself (WP1), the original WP3 application will continue to tick away in the background, assuming it's still extant - I have used this trick myself in the past to get a second 90 day Non 'B'.

Best you can probably get with the correct paperwork and a WP3 (Technically it's a WP1) Receipt is another 90 Day Single Entry Non Immigrant Category 'B'

The LabOR Office in Kalsin will not issue W.P. or reciept until you have the Non B visa in your passport.

There is conflicting information on the internet. One piece of information says you need the W.P. to get the Non B. Two years ago Korat Labor gave me the W.P. before I got the visa.

You can get the Non B without the W.P. at Vientiane.

the Thai Embassy will stamp in red in your passport beside the visa:

Remark :The applicant is advised to apply for work permit which should be presented to authorities next time. (on renewal of visa after 90 days).

Just denied a Non B in Vientiane Monday, one document from the school was incorrect and the school did not have a fax machine for me to rectify the situation easily. So am back with Tourist Visa as I await the new piece of paper. The document was not W.P. related..... This without the W.P. as I live in Sahataskhan, Kalasin.
