Hi all

I have my 2 kids from the UK visiting with me for the summer holidays. They both arrived and got the 30 day VOA at BKK, but I want them to stay on a little bit longer.

They cannot stay beyond 40 days, as they have to be home for the new school term.

So, I either head for a land border post and get a 15 day extension (Which is best for this? I have my own transportation...) or I can simply show up at BKK on day 40 and see what immigration say...

Any advice?

How old are the youngsters? Up to 14 (somebody please confirm that age) there is no overstay fine payable. If they are liable for a fine then simply rolling up at the airport with a 10 day overstay will net a 5000 Baht fine but no real hassle.

You can get a 7 day extension of a 30 day visa exemption by visiting your local immigration office, you will need to show outbound tickets, 1900 Baht.

Up to you to do the economics of it.

Ahhh..

Oldest is 13, so the no overstay payable would work...

Please wait for someone to confirm the age limit before dancing naked around the room smile.png

Are they travelling alone? Best to make sure that they (or their accompanying adult) have the cash to pay the fine, just in case.

Immigration normal answer to such a question is just overstay. The stamp has no real negative meaning and as said fine is not imposed.

Kids under 14 do not pay overstay fines but will get a stamp in their passport.

What exactly is the stamp for? If they were to visit later this year and we applied to Hull for a 60 day visa before they left, would there be an issue?

the age has recently changed to below 15years of age.

The age has not changed it is up to the 15 year. ( the difference is way of counting years as the Thai are starting from 1 year not from 0 as we do )

But do know that overstay is a offense and if stopped by police during the overstay you will be arrested and deported.

If you arrive at the airport with overstay their is no problem just pay your fine and you are on your way.

Just an update.

Decided to do the visa run by car to Cambodia. Online Cambodian visa application took 12 hours for acceptance. Only need another 10 days or so, so the day stamp at a land border will work.

Thanks for the info, all, but decided not to take the chance of something happening at the airport once they are out of my sight...
