July 17, 201213 yr It looks good but the map appears to be somewhat bastardized. I would check further to see if the updated maps are available directly from ESRI or not. Any GPS is no better than the map that is installed.

Any GPS is no better than the map that is installed. I did see updates are available when glancing through google. But I did not take a serious look because I was not sure of the unit itself. I'll have to check the availability of the maps. My last one was a small Nuvi but that got lost and I'm looking to replace that with something.
July 22, 201213 yr Had one for a number of years. Used it on the bike and in the wifes DMax. I not sure the maps are updated that often tho. The multiple dictionaties are good for a handy translation tool or if looking for a synonym. The ability to swap between either Thai or English GPS to suit the user we saw it as the best available at the time. Not all places were in the English libray and there was a couple of occasions that my wife would do the search for a place in Thai and then change it back to English so I could read and understand the directions.
July 22, 201213 yr Unit is good. Map updates are available free fro one year and about 800 baht a year after that (about twice a year.) It is the ESRI map database. The speed navi software is owned by Hyundai. The maps are thai and English. If it is not very cheap consider the larger version which is newer. The 5 runs the vewrsion 3 software. version 4 needs the newer machine and I am not sure how long they will continue to update the version 3 software. I bought it as a dictionary but it spends all the time in the car. I would not go to Bangkok without it now.

Sent from my GT-I9100T using Thaivisa Connect App You will be very disappointed with the phone navigation but you can always buy a dedicated GPS later. The available GPS maps for phones leave much to be desired. I have a Nokia with Nokia maps and an Android with GPS maps. Neither can compare with a GPS with a TSM ESRI map.

July 26, 201213 yr Forgot to mention that mine suffered(s) from heat exaustion... if it got too hot in the window it would shut down. but leaving it for a bit to cool down it would reboot fine. Otherwise a good reliable unit
