KSR backpackers days are way over

If you actually do see Backpackers they are the gap year types, very neat ones with standards for accomodations

Hi, I've stayed in New Siam 2 behind the temple just off the KSR. Lot of families, nice pool. Near to the river and boats etc. Plus the roads are blocked to traffic of an evening. Clean good facilities about 800 bht a night.

Agree with the post above, the days of the 100bht a night hippy/traveller dives are over.

What do you consider as cheap?

Anything under a thousand if the facilities are clean, quiet and moderately comfortable. There are deals in Sukhumvit for 1500 a night and very nice, so I'd have to save at least 500.

Thanks for the replies.

I have had some problems with New Siam 2. Their rooms and prices are ok but be careful of their services. A friend of mine got obserdly overcharged taking a taxi the hotel recommended (employee of theirs) and when we tried to argue with the driver he started searching his car for a weapon. We paid him not wanting trouble and when we called New Siam 2 to let them know of the incident, they laught us off and said that was none of their concern.

About 6 years ago we booked a taxi through the hotel's tour desk. We paid up front for a taxi to Hau Hin expecting a new taxi not some old banger that was owner/driver the tour reps father. No refund and an uncomortable journey.

Hotel O.K......Don't book Taxi through hotel TV members!wink.png
