scottishjohn
I posted the following on the Chiangmai forum in response to a comment but got no response! Does any one know if I am correct: post was: I was always taught never to use the unsubscribe button on junk/spam mail as all this does is confirm/add to his database that the address on the unsubscribe link is valid and he can then sell that address on as such and you get even more junk/spam mail! Obviously it is OK to use the unsubscibe button on a legit site that you have used, but no longer want, as they have your address anyway. I may be wrong but I am sure there is an IT guy around who can confirm or otherwise.
happynthailand
if you want to unsubscribe from a site e-mail. report it as spam. that way you won't get spam from the site any more.plus it cuts down on junk mail

Don't be lazy and think a spam report replaces following unsubscribe instructions for emails you legitimately receive.
