30 Day On Arrival Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hi Guys

I am trying to find out the best way to deal with a situation....

I am coming to Thailand later in the year on a 30 day visa on arrival.

I will be travelling around Thailand doing the tourist thing, and during this trip

I will visit briefly Laos, and also Cambodia for a couple of days mid way thru

the 30 day visa. When I return from Cambodia back into Thailand will I get a new 30 day

Visa?...the original 30 day visa will still be active at the time of return..... If so I can extend my stay a few days longer than the original 30 days, if not then I am not sure what to do, as I will leave Thailand twice (Laos for only a day, Cambodia for a couple of days)

Any advice on best how to deal with this would be appreciated.

1. You require onward confirmed air transportation within 30 days for stamp on arrival - you do not seem to have so airline can refuse to allow you to board. Would advise you have at least a single entry tourist visa to avoid any last minute problem.

2. You will receive a 30 day stamp on your return, each time, after visits to Laos and Cambodia.

If your entire trip to Thailand (including the side trips to Laos and Cambo) is less than 30 days and you have an onward ticket (normally back to your home country) within said 30 days then you will not need a tourist visa and you will be ok to board in your home country.

If your entire trip is in excess of 30 days i.e your outward ticket (back home) is outside the 30 day period then it would be advisable to obtain a single entry tourist visa before leaving home.

As already stated when you come back from Laos and Cambo you will recieve a fresh 30 day stamp which supercedes the existing stamp.

Edit.........re-reading your post it does sound that you are looking at a total length of stay in excess of 30 days..............maybe post again and let us know.

HI thanks for the replies....not been online for a while so sorry for the delay

in responding.

Yes the trip would be more than 30 days in total...probably somewhere near 40 all in all.

But I would have a ticket out of Thailand to cambodia during the 30 days...so I would be leaving the country and have a ticket to prove it within the 30 day visa limit. Also on return I would have

a ticket home when I next entered Thailand coming back from cambodia, again within 30 days of

the new 30 day visa on arrival, so I assume that would cover me?

I will if need be arrange a 60 day visa before I come if I need to of course, but if I can just do the 30 day visa on arrival then I would rather do that as its easier I think.

Thanks again :o

You should be fine. But try to think of that 30 day stamp as permission to enter Thailand without a visa. It is not a visa. Visa on arrival it a different ball game.

Hi thanks ...yes point taken on the 30 day stamp. This trip is a bit different, I am covering more ground and seeing more of the country.....I normally only do up to a max of 4 weeks when I stay, and my main thing is to do it the right way, I dont want to cut corners and have problems :-)

thanks again for all your help
