The wife has not yet made her settlement visa application. She went for a TB test today and the doctor said she had some kind of infection, most likely not TB but can't rule this out until further tests are done. I am not absolutely clear what tests were being done as this was relayed to me over the phone but to rule out TB will take 2 months. In the mean time she has anti biotics for a chest infection.

Does this mean she can't make the visa application now or is the certificate only required once she travels. If that is the case then she can be waiting for the visa whilst waits her test results.

She needs to show that she is clear of tb before the visa is issued. So unfortunately you will not be able to submit the application until she can get a certificate

Indeed. Tuberculosis testing in Thailand

If you want to come to the UK for more than six months, you must to be tested to show that you are free from infectious TB before we will accept your visa application. If you refuse to take a test, your visa application will be refused.

I know she has not refused to take the test, but if she submits her application without a TB certificate she will be refused.

If the test is positive

If the x-ray shows signs of infection, the clinic will perform other tests to find out whether you have infectious TB. This testing may require you to return on three consecutive days.

If you have TB, the IOM will not give you a certificate and you will not be able to apply for a visa until you have been cured. The IOM will give you advice and tell you how to get treatment. A full course of treatment usually takes six months. After you have been cured, you will need to pay for another TB test - if this test shows that you are free of infectious TB, the IOM will give you a certificate and you can apply for a visa.

I hope that she doesn't have TB, just an infection and that she recovers quickly and the next test is clear. Best wishes.

She is a nurse so comes into contact with carriers but she doesn't have any symptoms. The Doctor is sure it isn't but of course the x-ray can't prove this.
