Can Coming To Thailand Make You Bisexual?

600 replies and over 20000 hits ,i think a lot of people are curious ,dont you?

too true , since reading this topic , i dont need my daily dose of viagra.

i often wonder why there so many ladyboys in thailand ?.

could it be that a thai boy bungs his girl friend up , then does a runner , sounds familiar .

then the unfortunate lady , has to go down south to earn a living , to take care of her young son.

the young boy is brought up by mama , who thru shortage of funds ,is dressed in girls clothes ,

and there we have it , a ladyboy in the making .

i recall meeting a ladyboy, who served in a local restaurant ,she was polite courteous , dressed really smart , and on many occassions , i gave her the glad eye , which was not returned.

she was not available , not for sale . indeed i felt quite sad for her ,she was traped in the wrong gender,

and the sadness of her predicament ,showed on her face .

so just dont think of the sexual agenda , when you meet a ladyboy ,

there is often more to them , than meets your eye .

i should know.coffee1.gif

How utterly presumptuous! How would you know why she was looking sad that day. Could be thousands of reasons.

Jeez, what an interesting question ...'Can coming to Thailand make you bisexual'... I put this in the same basket as .... 'Can coming to Africa make you a negro'.

As a Black man I say no need for that remark

Why? I'm sometimes reminded it's a bit archaic in the US/UK, but not really in most places incl. Thailand. As we're all from every corner of the globe, some consideration for words that are common in some places but not in others is called for, if and when the intention of what a person is trying to say is clear; that's just mutual respect.

This is an English language forum so modern English usage standards would be assumed. This isn't a Spanish language forum.

Just asking for consideration of the actual intention of what is said; not doing so you end up being language police on what is proper & current in England and the USA.

from my experience not a lot of foreign gay dudes visiting.

Depends where you go, and your circle of friends. There are *LOADS*.

ladyboys could be gay Thai dudes hoping to score a straight rich foreign boyfriend.

There are some who dress as men some days and as women on other days, or special occasions. As for scoring a straight guy.. maybe for a one night stand and accompanying remuneration in the morning, but an actual relationship of any kind sounds unlikely with someone who is 100% straight. Some actual ladyboys do marry of course, but then it's not to completely straight people. (Also not gay of course, but 'word-that-still-needs-to-be-invented'-people.

Off coarse they're gay if they are attracted to men and not women.

Apart from the ones rgs2001uk has met.

this topic is going to be a gay/straight debate. mods move it to the gay section and give us all a rest

There is, I guess for most people, the option of not reading a particular topic. Except for that one scene in Clockwork Orange where the guy had his eyelids held open. Is that your problem?

not a problem for me but 26 pages about gay/not gay, shagging ladyboys means your gay or not means this should be in the gay section.

Also this is posted in the 'general topics' forum after 26 pages its clear its a gay/not gay topic. Hence it should be in the gay forum. If it were in the gay forum i would not click on it to read it. cos im not gay/lesbian.

Not exactly. Gay forum is more like ... gay. Not ... gay/not gay.

Nobody's forcing you to read it. General is where it belongs, and where it is staying.

Here's another twist. If you come to Thailand as a very young man with a heterosexual orientation, and go heavy into the LB scene, and find yourself focusing and liking (a lot) the male side of the LBs over the female side with frequent pleasure reinforcements with orgasms, not only could it make you bisexual, it could make you gay. That's because YOUNG males are still somewhat sexually fluid. Almost all the punters coming to Thailand are way too old to have their oil changed in that way. Male sexuality is FIXED and set in concrete at an early age.

absolute <deleted>.. you are clearly talking from a subjective standpoint. There are gays by nature and gays by nurture. They can change sides at any age. Social conditioning teaches boys to like girls, this is considered 'normal' behaviour and any deviation from that is considered abnormal, unchristian, immoral, depraved, disgusting, etc by many.. enough to put most men off, or reduce them to hiding or repressing their true feelings. Thailand offers a sanctuary where men are not stigmatised for being gay. Consequently you have many men experimenting with LB's, which is perhaps for some as far as they dare to go. Others may go further, but safe in the knowledge that they won't be condemned for their actions. So I say yes, Thailand can turn you bisexual, but only if those feelings are already there (deep in the unconscious mind that is - the 'Id' as Freud referred to it, the TRUE SELF)

What about the 'FemBoys' as opposed to the LadyBoys ... how do they fit into the mix or are they considered to be into the same category?

Totally different. Effeminate young male. Gay, bi, or straight. Usually gay.

Thanks I understand now. thumbsup.gif

Seems smokie's set ... but I'm a bit lost.

Is the difference in the mind set, a physical difference or a transitional one?

I'm going to talk this one back. I'm defining femme boy based on a western understanding of butch vs. femme in gay culture (that does have nothing to do with trans issues). There may be a Thailand specific meaning that I'm not aware of. Sorry I shouldn't have commented on this one. Maybe in Thailand there is a connection of femboy to trans issues that I'm not aware of as that is so not my scene. I'd be interested to hear if there is. Edited by Jingthing

I knew a few drag queens in San Francisco and they were 100% GAY. They dressed as men part of the time and as women the rest of the time, but they were GAY and considered themselves to be so. I see no reason why most ladyboys are any different from their Western counterparts.

Gay (or straight) drag queens and ladyboys are entirely different. You're doing an apples and oranges here. I assume you're talking about drag queens who do shows and parade in drag for special occasions, such as cabaret shows, street parties, Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, what have you.

Those with the desire or reality of presenting as women as a regular thing in their everyday life have gender IDENTITY issues typically are heterosexually identified (in other words, they are in effect women who are attracted to straight men).

if you took the dress off the ladyboy, cut the hair, and he just ran around acting all (god how can i put this without getting shot down) femme ill use your word, would he be then gay???

and im asking, i dont know

In general no because the core of this is reflected in the internal psychology of the person with the gender identity issue. Gay people do NOT have gender identity issues!

You are trying to spilt hairs. These were men that dressed as women on a regular basis. I worked with them in a guest house and they would dress as men during the daytime (because they had to to keep the job) and as women on most nights when looking for sex. They did not just get in drag for Gay Pride Day and such.
