Krabi Hospital Hygiene: Rats In Patients Rooms

Featured Replies

I have hesitated quite a long time to write this. But I think it is in public interest, that this is being published somehow:

When I stayed in Krabi Hospital 4 weeks ago during the night to accompany my very ill son, I was shocked quite a few times every night by rats (yes, the animal!) running through my legs, under my chair, to and from the toilets, where the water drainage was opened and the cover to avoid such things was just laying aside. In one of the nights, I have seen three rats, one of them running through the beds !!!

When I talked to the doctor the next morning, he was very sorry about that and he knew that there were rats running around, but there's nothing he could do about this. So, I finally went to the information to ask for the manager. I was brought to the second floor (just up the staircase) and had to wait. Later on, a girl in a blue uniform asked me to show where I had seen the rats. So, we went there (actually, the first room just behind emergency) and I showed her the two open drainage holes. When we went out, she showed me that some work was going on just next to the building and that here's the reason why they have rats. I answered there were no works going on 4 weeks ago, when I saw the rats. The answer was just a shy smile and a very polite goodbye...

Maybe, writing about this desastrous situation in a hospital, will make the responsable people react? I would really hope so.
