The more prolific posters on the forum are generally motivated to post by the prospect of free beers from the owner of this website. The ones you mention that focus on bashing the Thai government are motivated by free beer from the leader of the opposition party. He'll possibly be along in a minute to pass comment however before he does let me say something. Of all the people you can think of in your life that deserve pity, Smokie36 is not one of them........I won't embarrass this fine gentleman by explaining why, however I will say that if any of you ever get a chance to have a beer and a blether with Smokie, take it. You'll meet a gentleman of the first order...............and for those trolls out there that think they are being smart with comments and posts like the one above.......you're not in his class in any way. Do not like spending all day in the Bars,or can't find a decent conversation in the same. Easy to choose a Topic that suits you. Enjoy the cut and thrust of a good argument. A cheap form of entertainment. Useful source of knowledge. Can learn something new about Thailand. Occasionally a way to make friends. A form of Hobby,that is of personal interest. Habit forming,repetition,and a relief from boredom. Helps one to see another point of view. Someone will take note of an otherwise voice in the wilderness,and proof that people may take notice of your views. If you didn't post too often you would become a spectater,and soon forgotten. I'm sure there are many more reasons that could be added? A bit like watching Soaps really,which only the viewer fully understand their own fascination. And finally it's fun to be part of the Club,sort of like having friends you have never met! and you are interested to know if they like your views on a given subject? An other way is to see them, especially for the very negative ones, specialized in personal attacks, is they are the forum's bullies. Just remember your school years, the guys who always interrupt everybody with "funny" remarks, who especially target those who have something interesting or relevant to say. The very sad part is that recent studies have proved that very often teachers do actually side with the bullies. Bullies is a trendy subject, there is a lot of studies about them and I'm sure that the very prolific negative posters can be considered as forum bullies. Yes, sometime bullies are entertaining but on the other hand they usually silence knowledgeable posters. Carry on Bophut Lodge. Truly a wonderful place. If i have to stay on Samui, it is definitely my first choice, and you can get into a whole world of trouble within 150 meters of the place. I had heard changes are afoot there, though the conversation is hazy and may well have been imagined. As for Smokie, I can not for the life of me understand why you would feel the need to defend him. he seems like a big enough boy to take care of himself.
