Satellite Tv Options In Chiang Rai

I have noticed that other houses in my road have a number of different size/colour/branded satellite dishes.

I have True which is fine, but I wonder what these other people have and whether it gives any channels I (or my family) may be interested in.

Can anybody shed any light on True alternatives here?

Paul888,

Pay packages with English content which can be received here in the north;

TrueVisions

Skynet (Myanmar)

K+ (Vietnam)

VTC (Vietnam)

AVG (Vietnam)

TelkomVision (Indonesia) - (large dish)

Skynindo (Indonesia) - (large dish)

Astro (Malaysia) - (very large dish req'd in north)

And, most satellites also have free content.

This URL will give you initial info;

http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/asia.html

And, an ongoing thread for updates on free content;

And, for example, a thread regarding content on Asiasat 3S;

Larger sat shops, and online shops, will offer equipment (receiver, card, and dish) for the pay packages. And, for equipment to access free content. C-Band (large dish) and ku-band (small dish).

Installing and setting up the equipment is another matter. A balance of money/DIY.

Cheers

My old TrueVisions dish must be nearly that, it's holds up various climbing plants now as when we went on the new system a 1 meter dish was installed on the up stairs balcony.

They promised to return and remove the big dish but never did.

of the three feeds from Vietnam:

K+ (Vietnam)

VTC (Vietnam)

AVG (Vietnam)

can you tell me which offer the best selection of English language programming? I particularly like History, Discovery, BBC, and such.

Otherwise, can someone tell me where to go find the list of channels they encompass? Any related insight is appreciated, Thanks.

YES! I would guess many of us on here would like a summary of the best options to get as much FTA western programming and feeds as possible, which satellites and what equipment is required...

Looking at some expert posts it would seem we need a motorized mega dish with a sophisticated applicable set top box.

Perhaps our sponsor could oblige.. offering or recommending a full regionally tailored equipment package with full install and programming documentation and a sat tv 101 included?

Maybe then we could all stop going round in circles ?

IPTV for the English TV sounds interesting, but does anybody here actually use that?

I would be worried about connection consistency on anything internet based.....

Using it both in Bangkok & out in the sticks near Hua Hin they say you need a 2 mb connection, Hua Hin about 2.6, Soi 31 on Suk is actually just below 1 but still works fine

Will27,

Astro reception? Dependent upon ku-band transponder footprint (signal strength). Dish size required? South of Bangkok - small dish. North of Bangkok - larger dish. Chiang Rai - 3 meter dish.

Australia Network is free on Telkom 1 satellite. (And, BBC News.) (~170 cm dish req'd) More info here;

maidu,

Info here;

Click Packages, to compare.

Anyone know where to get 2nd hand or damaged satellite dishes in C.Rai area? I want to try modifying one to use as a solar cooker. I've heard by sticking on foil or mirror pieces, it can work that way.

her hum...sponsor asleep?

Why don't you just email and ask them to respond to this query?

The sponsor probably wouldn't even know of this thread.

I've emailed them previously and have always had a prompt reply.

Regards

Will
