webfact
Ex-policeman gets 19-plus years for two shooting sprees The Nation BANGKOK: -- The Criminal Court yesterday sentenced a former crowd-control policeman to 17 years in jail for a drunken shooting spree last year that injured two people and damaged six vehicles. Thirayu Phetmeekha, 29, a former police lance-corporal, was also given two and a half years in jail for shooting and injuring Kittisak Sriwattanaworachai in another case on August 5, 2006. Regarding last year's incident, the court found Thirayu guilty of shooting and injuring Suradet Sukthaworn and Niphaporn Prasertsri on the night of December 23. Thirayu carried out the shooting spree in the jurisdiction areas of Prachachuen, Sutthisan and Dusit police stations. He was arrested in Songkhla later in December. He confessed during the investigation and pleaded guilty in court. He said he had got drunk at a restaurant on Ratchadaphisek Road in Bangkok and started the shooting rampage. The court ruled that witnesses clearly identified Thirayu as the one who committed the crime. It initially sentenced him to 33 years and four months for attempted murder and another year for violating gun-control laws. Since he pleaded guilty, the court reduced the sentence to 17 years and two months plus two and a half years for the 2006 shooting incident. Thirayu said he would not appeal. -- The Nation 2012-09-

Address of your original post please. At the moment I'm in 'What's it all about Alfie' mode. BTW what ever happened to the police corporal who hacked off an innocent young lady's arm? I seem to recall that he was fired from his job. What that the end of it? Members here contributed towards a fund to assist her I think. My memory banks are bankrupt at the moment but another three coffees will kick them into some form of activity. Popular Post Xangsamhua
Can we get a law that police must wear uniforms at all times when out on the town, so the rest of us can be warned and steer clear? And yet, despite people's experiences, it's a fact that there are honourable police officers out there who take their jobs seriously and are good family men and good citizens. It's sad that they're tarred with the same brush that others deserve.
chotthee
Only crowd control police kill people. Crowd control soldiers are well trained to shoot only at the legs, and only use blanks or rubber.
lizardtongue
Another half wit out of the way at least until his family/friends raise some money, what makes me laugh more than anything in this country is that there are supposed to be 80% Bhuddist, two of the main principles of the philosiphy of Bhuddisum is that you shall not kill and steal! I guess that the police is made up of the 20% non-Bhuddists?
thaipod
I don't know how many off duty police I've seen that are out at night drinking in uniform and with a gun , a few years ago I left a restaurant on Thonglor when I was starting to be harassed by one in uniform and a gun who could hardly stand up insisting I had to buy him and his friends drinks . Fortunately, you have to fail it before being issued a gun. Don't want nice, honest guys on the force, do we? -mel.

Rancid
News has it that he shot through his police examination He must have had Charlem´s son as a teacher. I doubt that, if so there would have been dead bodies, plus he wouldn't be facing alleged jail time, just a merit promotion to 4 star general.
