Should I Get A Mazda, Toyoto, Or Honda?

Featured Replies

I've been thinking about getting a car here and I'm deciding between a Mazda 2/3, a Toyota Camry, and a Honda Civic. What would you all recommend more and why?

I personally prefer the Mazda 2/3 in terms of design though.

Well, you are comparing very different cars. A luxury sedan, a small hatchback (or sedan), and a comparable modest sedan.

You should maybe update us on your requirements and your needs. But if you have the means, and are looking to high price of resale go for the Toyota. I guess it will keep its value longer, and will have the additional advantage of prestige for you.

Most importantly maybe... Test drive each one and choose the one that fits best to you.

Freemindxs advice is good, choose the car size and style that suits you first.

Competition for the medium size cars like the Camry is a bit limited and in Thailand these cars are tuned and marketed as luxury cars.

There is more competitive models in the smaller car segment. These are more responsive to drive and better in the city, not as good for long trips.

Don't worry too much about resale as all of the cars you mention hold their value insanely well in Thailand. Toyota Camrys depreciate slowly but so do the small cars like Mazda 2 and Jazz. The asking price for used models on the used car web sites like thaicar.com etc will give you an idea of likely resale value.

The Mazda 2 or 3 will be peppy/sporty/modern

The Camry will be the best for sedan comfort & design

The Civic will be the most economical to run . . .

These cars don't really compete w/ eachother> you could compare the same brands among the same class of car--- for example >

Small= Mazda 2, Toyota Yaris hatch. , Honda Jazz

Compact= Mazda 3, Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic

Mid-Large= Mazda 6 (sold in Thailand?idk), Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, Nissan Teana

The Mazda 3 is a very nice car but at over 1 million baht for the nicest one - is it just me who finds it a bit small when sitting inside it?

No. When I compared it with the old Focus, i found it way smaller (and the boot is also too small). Overpriced and very heavy on gas (too heavy for the motor to drag around, I guess).

Current Mazda's engine is not as fuel-efficient as the other two makes u've mentioned if efficiency in fuel tops your list.Perhaps their new "SkyActiv" engine would do better as seen in CX5 which is not sold here(yet)?

If u're looking for stabilty+handling, forget about fuel efficiency-Both Mazda 2/3 handles way above par than the other 2 u've mentioned.Mazda's forte's is it's handling as reviewed by many car journalists. The previous Mazda 3 uses Volvo's S40 underpinnings so stability is good.I dunno about the current model though.

Both the Toyota Camry+Honda Civic are bland but reliable and popular as witnessed on the roads in thailand.Resale value for both will be a notch higher than Mazda and acessories aplenty.Service centres aplenty as well and any tom, dick and harry workshops is familiar with their engines.

Choose the car that suits your liking more..nothing beats by going down personally to the showroom and have a feel of the car yourself!Gd luck!
