Getting My Son A Uk Passport?

Featured Replies

Hi there,

I have been looking on the embassay site but it has confused me any more. Does anyone know what I need to do in order for me to get my 10 month old son a UK passport? I am married to a thai and he was born in Thailand. I read that the ebassay in bangkok no longer issue passports so I have no idea where I need to go.

Does anyone know where I need to go and what documents I would need? I want to phone the embassay but all they offer is a premium UK contact number.

Cheers

Thai birth cert and Thai marriage cert and wife's Thai ID card (or passport), translated into English and certified, about 100bht per page. Your full version English birth cert. Your passport. Passport photos of the baby (the most difficult part).

Take it down to the British embassy/consulate, fill in the forms, pay them the money.

Dead easy takes about 6 weeks for passport to arrive.

They don't keep any original documents but photocopy and sign to say they have seen the originals.

Thank you, when you say consulate I am sure there is one in pattaya, http://ukinthailand.fco.gov.uk/en/about-us/other-locations/pattaya/contact-details does this mean I could just go to the consulate instead of having to go to bangkok or do you have to go to bangkok for this sort of thing? Would make life so much easier if I didnt have to go into bangkok.

Ring the Pattaya office During office hours: +66 (0) 38 267 113 (Phone / Fax) & ask of they accept registration of birth documents & can assist in passport issuance, I am sure they will say you have to send the application to Bangkok, I don`t think there is a need to physically visit the Embassy-but I`d call as your first step at least you`re not paying 72p a minute.

TheOldGit's link in post #3 explains.

The premium rate number mentioned by the OP is for tracing passports that have already been applied for & will not be of any use for general enquiries.

Thanks for the replies, I will take a drive to the consulate in pattaya and ask them if either I can do it there or send it via post. I am sure you have to do it in person if paying by card or cash though.

Just waiting for my birth certificate to arrive from the UK :( been 1 week already and its the 2nd time I have had it sent as the first time it never made it to my door!
