Red Bull heir may have taken cocaine

The doctor who conducted blood tests suggesting that Red Bull heir Vorayuth Yoovidhya might have used cocaine will be summoned for questioning Tuesday.

Vorayuth is believed to be behind the September 3 hit-and-run accident that killed Thong Lor policeman Pol Snr Sgt-Major Wichian Klanprasert.

Explaining that police had yet to receive a detailed report from the Office of Forensic Science, Thong Lor police station's deputy chief Akkharawin Sukhonthawit said Monday that they expected the doctor to provide details on the sort of narcotic substance found.

He said that though traces of a narcotic were found in the suspect's blood, it does not necessarily mean he had taken drugs because some medicines can affect test results.

Summoned?

Presumably he took a sample, made a report?

Summoned to explain why he made a test for which they didnt ask, and the even worse, reported it. Whats to explain.

The test came back positive for opiates. Simple.

That would be something if he made an test without them wanting it and then put it in the news. This would mean letting the guy off after he had paid loads of money would be harder. It would put a dent in their plan.

If that was the plan of the police otherwise they would be happy with even more evidence against the guy.

Let's just hope dad and a brown envelope get to the doctor before he mistakenly confirms cocaine was in the blood.

Utterly breathtaking comment by the police!

I reckon if I had been stopped for drink driving and given a blood test, if they subsequently found cocaine in my blood it would be a case of, 'Go to jail, Go directly to Jail, Do not pass Go, Do not collect $200" !! Good job the little piece of s**t hasn't been blood tested in the middle East, he would be on an automatic 4-10 year stretch.

The word summoned is more commonly used when someone has done something wrong. As though the doctor did something wrong.

He tested a criminal. A guy at my factory got two years for a positive test. Lets see them try to cover this up because under the eradication program, he cant get out of this one.

Didn't he run into Chalerm's house? The guy will have to be executed.

If that is the case its shocking (not surprising). But it is true that some things make you test positive. I know for instance if i take taurine i might get a false positive and it needs further testing. Not saying this is the case, just saying false positives are possible.

Well the irony of taurine wouldnt be lost on a red bull owner i am sure.

If taurine pushed you over, every heavy consumer of red bull could test positive.

Driving 200kph down suk drunk and high on coke. Hits and kills a policeman, flees the scene, and attempts to get a servant to take the fall.

Is this a strong enough case for a conviction?

Cocaine use can be determined quite simply using hair samples. They wouldn't even need to mess up his hair do, armpits or pubes will do....

Hair drug testing

Hair drug testing is a method that can detect drug use over a much longer period of time,[19] and is often used for highly safety-critical positions where there is zero tolerance of illegal drug use.[20] Standard hair follicle screen covers a period of 30 to 90 days. The growth of hair is usually at the rate of 0.5 inches per month. The hair sample is cut close to the scalp and 80 to 120 strands of hair are needed for the test. In the absence of hair on the head, body hair can be used as an acceptable substitute.[19] Even if the person being tested has a shaved head, hair can also be taken from almost any other area of the body. This includes facial hair, the underarms, arms, and legs or even pubic hair. Currently, most entities that use hair testing have prescribed consequences for individuals removing hair to avoid a hair drug test.

The claim that a hair test cannot be tampered with has been shown to be debatable. One study has shown that THC does not readily deposit inside epithelial cells so it is possible for cosmetic and other forms of adulteration to reduce the amount of testable cannabinoids within a hair sample.[11]

Exactly. It's just the get out clause.

Yes that is for Cannabis (90 days) But I am sure if you check Wikki again, you will find that Cocaine & Heroin are just a few days. That is why they are the drug of choice in Prisons.

--------- after 'comic sans' font.... ;) let's go to the operative words in 'Arial'...

"believed to be behind the accident..."

"police 'yet' had to receive a report" (although it appeared that they had previously done one!!)

"they expected the doctor to provide...."

"it doesn't necessarily mean 'the suspect' took narcotics" as he may have taken a flu remedy, accidentally.......... ?

It is getting closer and closer to a buy out than one could imagine! It stinks! It is appalling, and so so sad for the officer's family. An officer, just doing his early round, making sure things were tidy on his round. Even if he was, and I am not suggesting, making a little fine now and again, as often we know happens; he DID NOT deserve to pay his life for it from a drugged up tycoon, in a speeding Ferrari.

I hope there is no buy out clause, or get out clause, of the causes of 'possibilities for excuses of redemption' noted above.

Utterly breathtaking comment by the police!

Why is it breathtaking, if it was you, and the test was in doubt, would you object, what if you had some medication that tested positive for an illegal substance, would you then object when it was questioned ?

All avenues have to be taken beyond reasonable doubt, no matter what a bunch of tired old jealous expats think.

If this guy wasn't rich nobody would give a toss, because he is rich, and even worse, he's Thai, the old men of ThaiVisa are baying for blood.

We found cocaine in your blood, ''Yes my Lord, I had a tooth filling today''.

'' Oh, thats OK then''...............................rolleyes.gif

Since when was cocaine an opiate?

My mistake. Reading about false positives for cocainr, they need a pretty specific type of medication or illness to come back positive.

Little overbroad if used purely for accident. Hair test good to see if long term abuse or pattern of use over long term. Cocaine has a tendency to move up and down follicle so not real good at depicting when use occurred. Also one or two casual uses might not show up.

BTW, I know meth has a few substances that will false positive such as gernamium, DMA 1 ,3, sudafed and maybe some PEAs. They can can run mass spec gas chrom to rule out false positives if they kept sample and cared. Not sure what pops, if anything, cocaine for false positives.

If confirmed that he really took Cocaine and there is no way to get a Positive Reading for Cocaine if you drink to much Red Bull rolleyes.gifOf course before the accident he was sober and because about the Shock that he just killed a Police guy with his Ferrari snorted a Big line of Cocaine...
