Where Is This Wat Described Below?

- One or so hours out of Bangkok, from Sukhumvit

- Very old (500-800 years?)

- Unrennovated (at least in 1987, last time there!)

- Naga balustrade (snake railing) of about 30 meters, concrete

- In park of bamboo, singing birds,

- River on site

- Functioning wat (monks in residence, it is not a museum)

Or similar intimate, slightly wild antique wat parks of atmosphere, intimacy, privacy and quiet. But it shouldn't be a forest wat out in the wilderness. At the time the location seemed to be in the middle of a town/city. Thus, it was not isolated.

I wish to visit an old friend where she feel at ease to speak freely. By comparison many wats I find glitzy and rather 'Las Vegas' in aesthetic.

More details..

Three structures in 1987:

1. very small one on a room-size pond

2. ruins that could be medieval

3. a more modern functioning wat

I suggested to my friend who is looking for this place that it could be Ayutthaya, but that place looks sparse of vegetation. And webistes now say it take 1.5 hours to get there. He cliams it was much shorter drive. Mind you, BKK then had a tenth of poulation and perhaps fewer traffic jams.
