petercallen Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Has anyone used the hospital or got insurance there,We did not bother renewing my wife's medical insurance because it only fully covered you to a certain extent if you stayed in the hospital not as a out patient, then the cover was useless Couldn't you have added out-patient cover to your policy, most Insurance companies (Thai / Foreign) offer this option. It was covered but a maximum of 2800 baht per visit,I took my wife to the BPH to check to see if she could get a better medication for her headaches i think the are migraine I went outside for a few minutes and when i got back she had already seen the doctor and they told me she needed a xray i thought of her neck She actually had a scan of her brain which cost 11000 baht, when i said to the doctor you said a xray she would not give me a answer We paid 26K for the insurance and if they had paid out in full which happens elsewhere they would still have made 15K profit on the i year policy thats why i want to check out the other hospital and its insurance policies

You had only inpatient coverage, like a lot of people do, and which is IMO for most people the most sensible option, so don't complain when outpatient treatment is not covered. And this is worldwide the same. Regarding this hospitals insurance policy, no hospital will have its own insurance, so you might find they work as a broker, if anything, because in the article it clearly states they are considering coming with an insurance policy in the future.
petercallen Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 SL you are wrong again, medical insurance where i come from covers you for everything in or out patient so it is not the same world wide and it is unlimited cover and the insurance companies cannot refuse to renew or increase the cost of your policy no matter how many claims you make except for your age and only in new policies not for long standing ones The amount insurance companies will pay you here is very limited as a outpatient and we had that cover in the policy and the policies are expensive here for what they cover Insurance here is expensive because you have to deal with agents instead of direct with the insurance companies and this increases the cost because of the commissions paid to these people As i have said before on this forum, the hospitals do not cover you they are not insurance agents but may have a recommended insurance company with a office on there premises Do you actually have insurance or are you a insurance agent and sell it???

Good Peter, since you know it all much better than somebody who used to work as marketing manager for an insurance company, good luck. You'll need it, as you'll find out the hard way. Or maybe 'as you're finding out the hard way' would be better.
