January 30, 200620 yr I just can't believe this! A BRITISH couple ended up in a prison camp after a travel agent sent them to TEL AVIV instead of TENERIFE.Source: The Sun, 30 January 2006 The full article is here but as I do not know how long that link will be live I also attach a copy.A pub landlady who has never seen Tel Aviv spelt before and who thinks this is the Thai way of writing Tenerife on an airline ticket? Well, at least she got some free advertising for her pub out of this experience. ----------------- Maestro The_Sun_20060130_British_tourist_Tel_Aviv_Tenerife.pdf The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
January 30, 200620 yr One of the many consequences of the socialists gaining power in the UK in 1997 is the mobility of people like this couple, utterly representative of the lumpen dross that is in the ascendancy in that wretched country. Their equally stupid brothers and sons descend on Pattaya and Samui in droves in a periodic migration that serves to remind us all why we left. Jesus wept.

One thing though, it ain't Tony Blair, it is the generations of in-breeding that has achieved this.
February 3, 200620 yr Author Bangkok...Tenerife...Same same but different... What I found rather interesting is this:They arrive in Bangkok presumably on a round-trip ticket Manchester-Bangkok-Manchester. Not liking Bangkok, they apparently attempted to book a round trip Bangkok-Tenerife-Bangkok. Now, in my humble opinion, if it is Tenerife they wanted to go to next, they should have flown back to Manchester and book a package tour from Manchester for Tenerife. Ok, they probability had a ticket that did not allow them to change their return flight without a surcharge. Pay the surcharge, then, or bide you time in Thailand, ask a Bangkok travel agent for alternative holiday destinations in Thailand. To arrive at the position of a pub landlady one presumably needs a certain degree of education and common sense, I should have thought. --------------- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
February 3, 200620 yr Author Oh, it's from The Sun. Content: 100% false.I agree with you that a considerable degree of scepticism is warranted when it comes to sensational stories published in a tabloid.I am rather interested in this story. Could anyone living in Keighley (West Yorkshire) or thereabouts be bothered to drop by the Woolpack Inn at Keighley for a pint and verify the story? (Considering the cost of beer in Britain I realise this is asking rather much) ------------------- Maestro The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place
February 4, 200620 yr How could anyone prefer Tenerife to Thailand?? The mind boggles... They missed out on a fantastic holiday - they could have travelled north, east, south (for beaches to die for) etc. etc. I wonder how long they were in Bangkok? Did they even leave the airport? Or perhaps her husband caught sight of a few girly bars and she decided to take him home!!!
February 24, 200620 yr How could anyone prefer Tenerife to Thailand?? a typical british desire to go to exotic places like spain and live amongst themselves eating the same food that they would at home.
February 25, 200620 yr Classic story - and it couldn't have happened to a nicer couple. Reassuring to hear that justice does exist in this world.
