10 Days Left On My Thai Wife's Settlement Help!

Featured Replies

Hi all

Just reg'd as been recommended help at and here! I hope.

My wife's visa is nearly out, she has tried to pass the life exam but failed 4 times. Now it's crunch time.

I am old, we been married 10 years. I cant live alone in UK as partially blind. Can I extend her visa? If so does anyone know how, where, cost? We only have 10 days left.

Any help please?

What Visa is she in the UK on?

If she's on FLR get an appointment asap at Croydon and extend it for another two years. You'll be extremely lucky to get an appointment this late in the day...

She can apply for FLR by post. As long as she does so before her current visa expires then her permission to stay in the UK will be automatically extended until her FLR application has been processed.

See Applying from inside the UK and the relevant links from there.

failed 4 times how long has she been in the uk?you need to send her to school.

It is possible for FLR to be extended without this on compassionate grounds such as her acting as a carer. Leaving it ten days before the visa expires seems bad planning.

She can start on an ESOL course to help in the longer term.

A1 is very basic but again 10 days is leaving it far too late!

As stated above by 7x7 the postal route is probably the best one to take. The application date is taken as that of the postmark. Best to send it recorded delivery anyway.

Try ESOL lessons, they help them along.

You still have time to apply for FLR, not to worry just get your skates on.

Show the paperwork for the lituk test fails etc, explain on the application that she needs more time and you'll be fine.

have you read the life in the uk test questions they are ridiculous and totally irrelevant to life in the uk in 2012, try some of the practice questions see how many you get right

Wrong, she needs an A1, or equivalent, pass in English speaking or listening for FLR.
