otherstuff1957
Bangkok is subsiding at a rate of about 1 to 1.5cm per year, so the flooding will only get worse over time. Because of this subsidence, the canals that used to drain rainwater off to the ocean no longer have sufficient gradient to get the water moving quickly. As a poster above pointed out, the solution is pumps. If they want to save Bangkok it has to be surrounded by a dyke and have several large pumps ready to go.
