The shooting took place across the road from our newsroom. Hence our news flash was coming in from our neighbours, who knew the man and not from a generic source so, as such, at the time were a mix of rumours ( to be fair to the deceased) and local knowledge which would be unavailable to most anyone else. Having lived here for a long time now, and knowing many in the village, for once we had the news as it happened. Without doubt, the content is 100% correct

The man was, in fact, a simple cow herdsman with hardly any money to his name and was a self employed "mover" of cattle, the guy that leads 2-4 calves from grass patch to grass patch. He was a regular village "sight". He is known to have had several "disagreements" locally the most outstanding being that he was said to have sold cattle on behalf of their owner, but not passed on the money. At the time we carried the story the village was buzzing with "rumours" including the ever standard yabba connection.

kind regards

Tommy

Fabulous 103, were you writing about a different Pong, and not the one on Mabprachan Lake? The Pong that I know of, is not the same as in your article. The one you describe as "virtually untouched by modernization", thats got to be somewhere else, right? Or was that some kind of joke? Why not just write about the murder, and not add a lot of bs that is not true. I've heard of poetic license, but this is more than silly. Sounds like you were writing a travel guide, not a report about a murder.
