Hi All.

my 12 month Non-O multi entry expires in 3 weeks.. i can still go on a visa run and get another 3 months though,,

questions

to convert to a 12 month marriage visa

do i need to apply and sort it out while the main 12 month visa is current or after it expires and i'm on the last 3 month entry ?

i understand from reading the forums that i need to take evidence (UK Bank statements) of regular income for them to give me a letter for immigration , anyone know the cost at the UK consulate for this ? and is it still 40,000bt per month to show ? i have just over 1000sterling per month

what other documents do i need to take to immigration with me ? some i have read about . what am i missing

photo of myself, wife and our son in front of the house number plate .. so i also need pics inside the house ?

house rental contract

the letter of confirmation of income from the uk embassy

photo of myself (passport size)

Thai marriage certificate

our sons birth certificate

1900bt fee for immigration (how much is the re entry bit as i plan to fly out in December)

what else ?

You can do it during the lst 30 days of any permisison tos tay, so you can do your border run and after 60 days apply for the extension of stay.

You need a letter from your embassy confirming your income, of at least 40,000 baht a month (before taxes)

You can apply for extension of stay based upon marriage to a Thai (it is not a visa) during the last 30 days of any entry of from visa.

At current exchange rate 788 pounds is needed to reach the 40k baht required for the extension. Embassy will require proof of income.

Two TM7 forms with photos and 2 copies of all documents and photos.

Photos required vary from immigration office to immigration office so best to take pictures inside house as well.

Kor Ror 2 marriage registry from Amphoe.

Wife's ID and house book.

Copies of your passport photo page and all visas and entry stamps from those visas (depends upon office requirements and some will want copies of every page).

Copies of TM6 departure card.

You will also need your to be with with you when you apply for the extension.

is the Kor Ror 2 still required on a newly registered marriage

They will probably want to see it any way, as it only costs about 20 baht and can be gotten from any amphur it is better to go with one and not needing it than needing it and not having one.

had a slight hickup ..lol .. got my dates wrong :(

was going to poipet today to get the last 3 month stamp then had a nasty thought

my 90 days is up 1st november

however i had forgotten my 12 month multi O expired october 27th..

so made a U turn and came back home as i believe if i had exited i would of re entered only on a 14 day tourist stamp making a marriage extension impossible

so i now have until Thursday 1st November to sort out a marriage visa/extension :(

does the british consulate in jomtien do a while i wait service on the income statement ? (nationwide UK bank statements) .. and how much is this part?

is 2 days enough time to do it all

and if not if i just get a 30/60 day extension at jomtiem am i still able to convert/get the 12 month marriage extension

Believe UK letter service is fast so if you can get that and wife and normal paperwork together and arrive early enough you should be able to do - if letter is an issue you should be able to get 60 days and then do sometime during that period (but an extra 1,900 baht fee). You were right to make the turn-around.

went to jomtien today

the lady on the 2nd desk refused to acknowledge that bank statements showing income in the UK with a embassy letter was acceptable

she said it is only for pensions and that being i am not a pensioner it would not be accepted :(

walked away with a 60 day extension and told to do a 14 day cambodia run at the end of that and then another 60 day extension and so on

Did you try to ask to a superior?

You could contact the immigration hotline (1178) and ask about the rules. If necesarry they will correct the officer and tell her what to do.

I think the person you talked to was not familiar with the rules.

I suggest you open a bank account and transfer some funds on a regular basis into it from the UK and show that bank book when you go back for your extension.

Bangkok bank has a branch in London where you can do a domestic transfer into a local Bangkok bank account. Info here: http://www.bangkokbank.com/BangkokBank/PersonalBanking/DailyBanking/TransferingFunds/TransferringIntoThailand/ReceivingFundsfromUK/Pages/ReceivingFundsfromUK.aspx

on my last visit to immigration as per my original post i ended up getting a 60 day extension as opposed to the 12 month extension i was after..

i went back today as wanted to allow myself plenty of time to get it sorted out.

they went thru all my documents .. happy this time with my bank statements and letter from the consulate.

but a new issue lol

i rent my house and provided the tenancy agreement.

they now want the owners passport copy. and company papers if its in a company name.. the owner has not set foot in thailand for many years i gather..and i rent thru an agent

and also a letter from the agent confirming my tenancy and that I'm still here

she was very nice about it all and said it goes from jomtien to Bangkok for there approval and she is telling me what they are now saying is needed

Suspect your presence has never been reported as is required by immigration law of any landlord providing accommodations to a foreigner? Most Thai ignore and pay the fine if found out so not uncommon but could make it an issue in case such as yours. Close check on home is a feature of new immigration office for each province system as where you live determines where you file so in a perfect world your wife would be listed on that accommodation home register so the normal home register/copy would take care of everything. Again most Thai don't bother to do this.

I would get on the agent to get things sorted out. Tell them you are going to have to move out unless they can provide the documents needed.
